Every Amazon Prime order delivered by Royal Mail arrives late despite being given a guaranteed delivery date. All other carriers arrive on time. I have complained to Amazon but it still happens.

John johnsen says:
Amazon prime orders sent with Royal Mail are usually sent with normal first class mail which is 1-2 day delivery which is not a next day garenteed service. They are not sent using Royal Mails garenteed next day service which is special delivery.

Here's the thing guys there is no such thing as GUARANTEED DELIVERY.

It could only be a guaranteed delivery if and only if the CARRIER will cost some delays on the process. So as a tip if you need an item give it some allowances or purchase it on the high street.

Amazon Prime orders state a guaranteed delivery date whether Royal Mail or any other carrier - this is not honoured by Royal Mail.

While I ensure that I make my purchases in good time, my issue is that if a guaranteed delivery date is included as part of the order confirmation and contract between Amazon and myself, I expect it to be met.

But if Amazon don't send it via Special Delivery - which is the only guaranteed day delivery service that Royal Mail offer, how can you blame Royal Mail for it?! They are providing the service that Amazon have paid for. If they are not using the Special Delivery service Royal Mail have to offer, then its Amazon's fault. Why do you always blame the courier?! Mrs Radbourne, Royal Mail do not have to honour anything someone ELSE has said to you unless that someone else PAYS for it to arrive on that day! It is NOT Royal Mail's fault, it's Amazons for promising you something they can't deliver.

And NO I don't work for Royal Mail.

Well last week I ordered about 10 things, 1 from RM on time. A few from HDNL on time, 1 from DPD on time but the only 1 that was late was citylink which was 1 day late. No apology from the courier or anything as usual. They just change the planned delivery date and pretend it never happened lol. Couriers are a waste of time imo

Our Royal Mail delivery service is EXCELLENT!!!!!!! Items larger than letter size are delivered without fail between 0715 and 0740 the day after bring ordered. Items of letter size are delivered with the standard delivery later the same morning
I prefer Royal Mail to City Sprint. I have no connection with Royal Mail.

Bellasiennanemo: Amazon have a contract with Royal Mail and other carriers. If they state a guaranteed delivery date, one would assume this is because they have agreed contract terms and conditions. In my experience other carriers are able to meet these conditions, but Royal Mail are unable to do the same. If you had read my posts carefully you would have seen that I am stating that Royal Mail cannot meet the guarantee set by Amazon and that my issue is with Amazon continuing to use a carrier unable to meet the contract it makes with its customers. I would however suggest that perhaps it is also Royal Mail's fault for entering into a contract with terms and conditions it is unable to adhere to.

You're right about Amazon having a contract with Royal Mail, but unless Amazon pay for Special Delivery - which they used to do all the time for Amazon Prime members but for some reason stopped, then Royal Mail don't guarantee items are delivered on a particular day. Royal Mail abide by the postage of whatever Amazon stick onto the parcel label. Royal Mail don't stick on the delivery labels or choose what service they are going to give its customers - Amazon chooses. Amazon pack and label all its own parcels. If Royal Mail overall were doing something against Amazon's wishes, do you honestly think a company the size of Amazon would continue to use Royal Mail? They have left Royal Mail at least 3 times that I know of and soon came crawling back again. A contract means that Royal Mail will give them a discounted rate of postage because Amazon are shipping in bulk - that's all basically. Royal Mail are adhering to their contract. They are delivering and sorting the parcels from Amazon and doing it by the method that Amazon tell them to - end of. Check the label on your parcel from Amazon, if it says 1st class, which is what Amazon have paid for, then it is NEVER a guaranteed day delivery. Amazon will know this. Amazon still choose to send the item to you that way, 1st class, then that is definitely Amazon's fault, not Royal Mail. If your item comes with a big round purple sticker on it saying Tracked, then it is 1st class basically, but is tracked throughout the postal system at every stage of its journey but doesn't need a signature - this however is STILL first class mail and not guaranteed on a particular day. Royal Mail will do its best to get your item to you the next day when its first class, but have NEVER guaranteed this. However I think its 93% of the time they do get your 1st class post to its destination on the next day. Amazon need to use the correct service for them to GUARANTEE a particular date, but choose to use 1st class or tracked instead which is and never has been guaranteed - so therefore it is Amazon's fault for promising you something they can't deliver by stating One Day Delivery. I myself would prefer Royal Mail to deliver everything to me, and I haven't actually had a problem with any other courier except for Yodel (lots of times). I'd still take RM everytime, nothing has ever got to me late from Amazon or anywhere else for that matter.

Thank you - you've just clarified something for me: I am an Amazon Prime customer (and have been for many years) and until recently have never had a problem with any carrier whether Royal Mail, Yodel etc. My items always arrived when expected which, I learn, is apparently due to the previous use of Special Delivery in the case of Royal Mail, although I have never seen anything to that effect on the packaging... I just wish that my next day delivery rate in respect of Amazon orders carried by Royal Mail was anywhere near 93%, and it's not as if where I live (in the suburbs of a large city) is in the middle of nowhere.

They shouldn't use first class when choosing next day when first class is a separate option! It's rediculous, but tbh I'd rather have Royal Mail than yodel/HDNL because they're useless sometimes. Amazon should start charging a small charge for super saver and therefor giving better value for amazon prime customers. I'm currently on the prime trial so far had 2/10 parcels delivered a day late which is alright but we shouldn't be promised next day

I deliver for Royal Mail and I rarely start my round before 10am so obviously your delivery rounds have not been optimised by Rm

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jun 2012 13:58:20 BDT
Royal Mail offer two different guaranteed services, Special Delivery and Tracked. If Amazon were to use either of them, excluding Satursdays, you as a customer of Amazon would recieve you items on time. It is not the fault of the carrier but of the depatching customer to be held accountable for paying the correct carrier fee.

My last Yodel delivery was showing delivered, however, I had not had it. After phoning the sending company, Yodel said that they could not access the property!! They had managed to deliver two different parcels to that address on the two previous days!! Seems to me they could not be bothered, luckily the sending company did care and chased them. Recieved 5 days late.

I asked for my item to get delivered to my at the address on it, now I know it is a caravan site but they should go to the address on the package not to the reception of the site, because if the security hadn't been there to get it for me it would of got sent back to the seller. I should of had it to the address on there not to reception, they didn't attempt the caravan at all and I had no card telling me where it was so it could of got nicked for all I know and my money would have gone. Not happy about that.
