I have a PAYPAL account with a nice balance that I'd love to spend here at Amazon but, I don't see an option to pay for goods with PAYPAL. Shouldn't Amazon accept PAYPAL by now?

I have been suggesting this to Amazon for the last couple of years but they will not go there. I am told it is because they want to promote their own card. BUT with the increased use of internet sales I really think they should rethink their policy of PayPal.

I'd rather they avoid Paypal, to be honest. Their T&Cs are a joke and we should be doing our best not to support them.

You can add your own card here just as you would in paypal and they will save your details if you tick the box to save for later and therefore you can use it again over, and over.
I too at first thought it was a problem until I actually registered my card. I am sure its covered the same way as in paypal and I always find myself coming back often for good prices.

Hi Alisa,
Do you work for Amazon? :)
Problems occur when your card is refused as mine is constantly we never found out what the problem was/is.
I think as a paying customer you should be able to settle your account with any legal way of money management, cards, Paypal, bank transfer what ever YOU choose.
Unfortunately Amazon has different ideas.

Thanks very much everyone who added their thoughts to the discussion. If Amaon won't accept PAYPAL, then it would be nice for them to develop their own system where credit can be paid in from sales or services and then be used to pay for merchandise here... AMA-CASH or AMA-MONEY, any thoughts?

Don't forget too that they charge extortionate prices to businesses to operate with them.

"disputes are resolved almost instantley"

Not in my case they aren't. I opened a dispute for non delivery over a month ago, 4 weeks after the delivery estimate provided by the seller. The seller provided her Royal Mail tracking number, 000000000 2 days later. Then she went into an almost indecipherable rant about overseas buyers always trying to rip her off.
Four weeks later, still no item or refund. I have used Ebay and Paypal for many years, over 1500 transactions in total and this is the first claim I have had to raise. If this is a measure of their service, they have had their last payment from me.

Paypal is receiving thousands of complaints from customers regarding their accounts. Just type in "Paypal problems" on the Internet if you don't believe me. The company is not registered with the FSA in the UK nor with the Data Protection Act and is based in Luxemburg. Credit and debit card information given to this company will be used for other purposes other than financial transactions and you may find that you will be unable to use your debit card or credit card on some occasions for no reason. On occasions when they feel like it they will stop you selling or buying on Ebay. Even though you have a valid debit card or credit card Paypal will sometimes prevent you utilising these on their system by suggesting that "Unusual activity has taken place on your Account" but gives no information and you cannot contact anyone within this organisation. The organisation is not a registered bank and my information is that debit and credit card transactions are in fact processed via a company in Hong Kong named Paydollar. It is virtually impossible to contact Paypal by email, telephone or letter. If I were Amazon I would not let this user near its customers.

No one has mentioned that you are not covered by your credit card's insurance/ protection when you use it with PayPal.

I use paypal and it is convenient but have you tried Amazons one click because once it is set up it is just as easy to use (maybe even easier) maybe I am just lucky but I have not had any problems with any sellers or payments give it a try it is excellent.

if amazon start using paypal i will NOT buy from amazon ever again.they are owned and ran by paypal.all the crazy rules paypal have are a joke.refunds are made much more difficult unlike just having it straight back in your bank.as a previous person said, they always favour one side, there just a joke.they charge so many fees they can literally do what they want.they should be shut down not promoted.and everyone should be united in refusing to use paypal, there is no one on this earth who should be promoting such a money grabbing company like ebay or paypal, unless you are so rich you can go and buy 10 brand new cars without knowing what there worth first then i think you should start being against companies like paypal and not trying to help them.to say me and many people i now hate ebay and paypal would not even come close to it.

I sell lots of stuff on ebay to make money for christmas, i would love to spend this money on amazon with the money going directly from my paypal account. Instead i spend this money at Zavvi, Boots and Toysrus who all accept paypal. I think paypal should be an option for those who want to use it - Amazon would have had my £500 this year instead of their competitors!

From Amazon's point of view, they would be charged less in fee's from card companies than they would if they added PayPal as a payment option. Not to mention as someone has already said, PayPal's T&C's are rubbish, and much too easy to do chargebacks. Just can't see them ever adding PayPal, there is no real need.

if your too lazy to withdraw money and use your card which would take a few minutes then quite simply you dont deserve to be listened to.if you sell on ebay then you should know how awful paypal are and should not be encouraging their promotion you should be plotting there downfall if you had any sense
