Has anyone elsehad problems with obtaining replacement parts even from the designated stockist(no stocks available). Whilst l think the product is brilliant l cannot use because the paddle is broken, Belstar have no stock. Anyone got one?

Britcom say : "If it out of stock, Dont Worry, we replenish our Spares stock every week." (It is out of stock today)

NB : I've not used these suppliers myself - still wondering if it's worth it.

I've bought spares for my Actifry from Belstar Electrics a few times and always get my orders very quickly (they send everything by 1st class post). Once when I was trying to order they had no stock so I emailed them to ask when they're getting stock and got a quick reply.

Werl/Britcom are useless - can't order through there website and takes forever to get through to them on the phone.

Hmm, maybe this is not relevant to your Tefal, but I've had varying experiences with some manufacturers over the years. eg Le Crueset, the knobs on the lids don't last very long if you use the casserole pot in the oven. I had no difficulty in getting replacements until recently, - local shop etc, but it's now a couple of weeks I've been waiting on responses to my emails to various on-line places including Le Crueset. Oh well.

On the positive side, my Le Cafetiere Le Tea Pot (brilliant) had a little accident going into the dishwasher, and we broke the glass beaker. After a helpful email response from their sales department a replacement was on its way the next day. Super service.

Hi I am in the process of sending my 2nd Actify back to Amazon. 1st paddle lasted ONE WEEK. Obviously they replaced it. 2nd Paddle just gone. Fortunetley within 6 months. I was only cooking 2 portions of frozen chips. Then "CRACK" I heard the paddle break ....Fabulous gadget - probably the best ever. Just the Paddle proble Tefal need to sort.

Ricky - Just curious. What went wrong with your Actifry? I'm now going to be on my 2nd Paddle? ... Obviously F.O.C from Amazon .. Re: Sale of goods act etc.

Think of it as being a mechanical fuse!

It is cheaper and very much easier to replace the paddle than repair a stripped gearbox or burnt motor.

Decided it wasn't worth buying new parts - thought about buying a new actifry.
Instead I got a Philip's Airfryer - it is great!
Not so good for stir-fry; but for everything else it is much better.
It is so versatile - even bakes pastry items as good as a normal oven.

We had huge problems with the Actifry, had one broken paddle (easy to replace fair enough) then that one's motor burnt out, replacement Actifry set fire to itself in our kitchen - luckily we were right there to deal with it, the third Actifry got a broken lid within a few weeks (the catch part snapped off inside the body of the machine, so that one was useless too). Have now given up on it which is sad because it was great when it worked

You got ME worried now. Re: Catching fire. My 3rd Actifry arrived on Monday. Only done a few chips in it so far .."Think I should invest in a Fire Blanket !

Haven says:
The best thing you can do with an Actifry is put it in the bin.Everything will eventually break and by the time you can get the spares you'll find something else failing. Don't waste your money.Get a new Philips hot air cooker. No parts to break.....

Mine is on it's second lid. Now looking for a third. Other than that i've had no problems with it and I use it nearly every day. it is great for cooking sausages and rashers. It cooks in about 10 mins and my kitchen doesn't stink afterwards! The lid catches should be metal or re-inforced somehow but that is the only problem I've encountered. i love my actifry!

Both myself and my friend have had the motor catching fire, a known problem to Tefal. Unfortunately just out of warranty. Will try the Philips air cooker.

I have been using Actifry nearly twice a week for last 2 years and I have had NO problems at all. It seemed to make better chips at beginning but still good standard. I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT IT .

Try eSpares. I got a new paddle from them when I dropped and broke mine. They are also good for all sorts of kitchen item spares.

I obtained my replacement paddle from E bay and they, Tefal have now designed a new paddle which appears to be much more robust and it fixes down with an apparatus with a click lock .The old paddle I had would sometimes come lose in the fryer and in the end a piece of the plastic came off the back of it. I don,t like the price of the replacement which was nearly £30 but the machine does do what it says it will and mine produces brilliant chips for two in 35 minutes.I tend to put a little less oil in mine than recommended which makes the chips crisper.
I have had mine now for 3 years and it is still behaving itself fingers crossed as I could not afford to replace it!

We've had our Actifry for over 3 years and has been used weekly without any problems. Cooks perfect chips every time, very rarely use it for anything else! We do only use it to cook fresh cut potatoes, not sure if that makes a difference.

Well l'm glad to see that it's not only me that has had problems with the actifry. In the end l did bin it because once problems start they always continue. Have patiently waited for the prices to lower on the Philips air fryer and luckily got a great deal from Argos for £99, the wait was worth it. Less parts to go wrong, cooks more than the actifry could and a lot easier to clean. Very robust.Takes less space than the actifry and is elegant enough to leave out on the work top. l got the piano black and am so glad l got it. Never again will l grace Tefal with my hard earned money even though when it worked it was brilliant. In today's climate you need value for money and you most certainly don't get it with the actifry.

Well done Haven - that was a good price!
I've bought a nice new wok for my induction hob . . . I find stir-frying is the one thing that is not so easy in the Philips Air Fryer - which I still love.
Perhaps a cheaper alternative to the actifry would be a more versatile halogen oven - when (if) it breaks you just get a new one?

Ooops! Had to edit because having read what Haven said on 19 Dec 2011 I realise my product link was pointless.
I am unfamiliar with halogen ovens - now I realise that what I'd seen was "The only product on the market that uses the halogen technology and a rotational food tumbler" (Crisp and Bake Halogen Oven)
This is the one I briefly saw mid-demonstration: http://www.idealworld.tv/_187526.aspx#BVRRWidgetID
Reading the mixed reviews, I would be inclined to wait until they've addressed any initial design faults.

Was the only the 1st generation of actifry's that caught fire - ours included :(

We bought the newer 'family' sized actifry, and have not had one problem with it :)

Haven says:
Have got the Halogen Oven, but have just seen a more up to date one that is just over £100 and has a paddle like the actifry. So would combine the Actifry and the Air fryer. So all you people that have yet to invest in either then here's your chance to get
something that would benefit you greatly. As far as l'm concerned whether you have the 1st generation actifry(had one) or the 2nd generation(had one) or even the family sized(wouldn't buy one) they will all eventually fail as the bits that break have not been upgraded. Be warned......
