Something peculiar is definitely afoot thats for sure. Cold ribs for brekkie mmmmmm, the fat was delicious. I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to lose any weight whilst in the midst of sleep deprivation. The kids all slept through pretty much for 3 weeks and I dropped over half a stone without thinking. 3 weeks on with teething and illness and being up all night and weight creeping back. Hopefully once they all weaned and teethed all should go back to normal here. Do you think tiredness has an impact on your eating/weight??

pixie says:
Lack of sleep is a real factor in not losing weight, I was reading an article the other day about it....the body doesn't function properly if you don't get enough sleep. I wouldn't worry about it Charlie...I think you have enough on your plate..( no pun intended!) Just start a fresh when the children are better...meanwhile just focus on your portion size.
It will sort itself out. I couldn't lose an ounce when I was having sleepless nights so I think it's true!

On the Kindle forum there is a big old todo going on abot trolls and their multiple profiles..I think we can learn from it. I have sussed a couple.

I haven't used another profile so don't much know what goes on but got the impression that yesterdays visitor may not be as described. Lol, why????

I eat miles more junk when I'm tired too which doesn't help. OH has had some bad nights too and he's eating sweets, he never normally does. I guess you crave comfort and an instant hit of energy.

pixie says:
Well your body is all over the place..it can't rest and repair it'self because you are not sleeping. Fretting about it only makes it worse so just get rest where you can, feet up, and relax. Hopefully all will return to normal soon. Hope the nice weather comes as yesterday was a real joy. Bitter cold but so sunny. Makes you feel good! Took the dog out too and she is so tired today, she is snoring as I type and the cat is no better~!

I think it is pathetic myself and done to disrupt...but we won't let it! Right!?xx....X!lol!

It's a lovely time in my life anyway, bit of tiredness ain't gonna stop me enjoying it. Chicken legs in the fridge. Any thoughts???

Doesn't bother me at all, I come here to talk all things foodie with like minded gutsies. Can't understand why people have nothing better to do? I'd join a club or something??

Or something?!..

Marinate them in garlic, olive oil, lemon and some chilli flakes? Got any BBQ sauce left?
How about a dry rub...did you make Emerils Bayou blast?

Yeah me too. I just like a chat and a swap of food ideas, I'm not out to be in playing silly beggars!

Our mystery poster seems to have deleted his/posts.....now that is strange, well maybe not!

At the risk of sounding horrible...I found that little episode quite creepy and sad!

I agree...when I have insomnia is the only time I crave sweets and cakes. I suppose my brain is begging for quick energy. The man who did The Truth About Exercise also did a documentary called The Truth About Low Fat Diets (you know "lite" products and all that) and he talks about how when you skip a meal or don't sleep your brain sabotages you by making you crave sugary, fatty foods. Then you think "Well I skipped breakfast, I can have this now" and end up eating 3 times the cals you normally would.

Pix, that's what a "sock puppet" is--one user with more than one profile pretending to be two or several people and "talking" back and forth. Some will even squabble with their sock puppets hoping to make people take sides.
I too have sussed out a couple.

Ori. quite honestly it isn't a nice way to behave and I would have expected better! It isn't just one either. Why people become so mean I have no idea but the thing is to ignore a certain thread...? Too pathetic to worry about Hee! Hee! I am quite shocked and disgusted about the content of the posts, I find it offensive, cruel and totally crass! To make a mockery of such a horrible condition...should be ashamed!

Insomnia is no joke Ori...you land up unable to function properly and then the body is all over the place

I daren't sleep during the day when I don't sleep at night because it just puts my sleep cycle in a tailspin. I have to tough it out as I can, and hope for better sleep the next night. I am not above going to bed at 9 PM sometimes! But never earlier, though sometimes I daren't lie down to listen to The Archers! LOL If I go to sleep at 8 PM I may come awake at 2 AM and that does not help.
However in the last 6 mos I have only taken 2 half-doses of Unisom, and both cases were when DH actually *asked* me to. The surprising thing is my tolerance of caffiene seems to have gotten better. I can often get away with a cuppa after lunch now, where before, when I was popping sleeping pills 2-3 times a week, a cuppa after 11 AM would have me awake all night. Maybe it's the yerba mate, I don't know.

Stu says:
are you still taking the sleeping pills now love, because tom has too because of his son being high etc and keeping him awake, comes to see me and i swear if i put a blanket over him he would be asleep in 10 mins

Posted on 3 Feb 2013 16:18:54 GMT
No-- as I say, I am so proud of myself, I haven't taken any for 6 mos except for those 2. One was when something really upset me about 11 PM at night, and the other time was when I had an allergic reaction to something in the night and I was itching like mad. Since it's an antihistamine it did help. I was hooked on the darn things for years, so breaking through has been hard work. I'm so glad I did it though! It's nice to just lie down and fall asleep like other folks. I do get the odd "white night" but when I do I just lie there and read.

Ghrelin, or some such hormone that helps to suppress appetite , is not being produced when you aren,t getting enough sleep, it,s a bummer. When I put most of my weight on I was menopausal and a good nights sleep was out of the question for over three years. I wonder in the light of current research if that was my problem, not the Krispy creme s. haha!
