Real "ragu" as I understand it at the begining was only meat Ori...no tomatoes, they were a much later addition. The original dates back to the 16th cent..hence no tomatoes. It originates from Bologna....x

I,m not an expert on Italian food but I do think that bolognese is with meat. If not it would just be pommodore. Pix will know for sure.

HA HA HA!!! - I'm stunned here, Diamond?! ;o>

Sometimes it,s nice to have an image in your mind when you talk to someone, glad I fulfilled your picture of me Suzy....some people could be disillusioned by it. But now you know, haha.

I doubt anyone could be disillushioned by such a warm and friendly face, Diamond? And you have a real sparkle in your eyes too, despite the fact that you do look quite shy at having your photo taken?.....x

I hate having my photo taken, to me. I look awful, but this one looked ok so I didn,t mind sharing it. It was taken in Jamaica earlier last year and I,d had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner so I was nice and relaxed too.xx

Awww, bless you, Diamond.....x
And I know exactly what you mean? because so do I. I have successfully managed to avoid having my photo taken ever since I was a small child - and it drives my Mother up the wall! - but I really hate it!!!

I am always shocked by the reality of photo,s, you see, the person in my mind does not look like the woman in the photo,s, I,m about 4 stone slimmer for a start and my little fat face always startles me, probably still feel thirty inside you see, not 62. Do we all have a different image of ourselves do you think? Some worse, some better??.

I guess that we often live so deep within ourselves that we tend to forget about the outer us that other people can see? And so then the photos can be quite shocking? - when you have a such fixed image of yourself and they simply don't match up? Which one is the true reality of the genuine us? - who knows! ;o>

Perhaps if I had been pretty, I would feel much more differently than I do about having my photo taken? I am actually very happy as a little Dumpy Duck?!! - and it is only when I stop to think, or get to see a photo of myself, of how other people must perceive me that I tend to lose my confidence! So, I will keep avoiding them, and still continue to annoy my Mum!!!

Nighty-Night.....x

Bolognese is from the city of Bologna as Pixie says and it is with meat (beef) recently I start to make it with lamb as my partner doesn't eat beef and I have to say it's very nice, you should try....in Italy we call it just ragł!

OK, I figured you'd know. Some silly superchef years ago (very annoying British-Italian man whose name escapes me) pontificated that "real bolognese" was just a tomato sauce--NO MEAT! But the louder one chef proclaims that whatever is "totally wrong" the greater the number of quieter cooks you will find who tell you they are the ones who are off base, not the recipe.

In my minds eye you have blonde wavy hair which you tie back with a beautiful ribbon. I love ducks and I think you are a lovely person.xxx

I have tried loads of recipes for Ragu, the one that used to be my fav was in Harry's Bar Cookbook but I have to say the River cottage version is the best!

Medium length bright Auburn hair in a Princess Di kind of style(!) with green eyes, Diamond. But not a ribbon or a pretty(?) frilly, flouncy dress in sight - as I am definitely a jeans, jumper and boots kind of girl.....which also drives my poor Mother nuts too?!! - HA HA HA!!! ;o>

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jan 2013 20:49:40 GMT
Auburn hair and green eyes, you lucky thing, how can that not be beautiful?? Methinks you,re too hard on yourself Suzysunshine.xxx

Ahhh, but did I also mention that I have the kind of face that only a mother could love?!! - HA HA HA!!! ;o>

I'm simply an ordinary plain jane, Diamond - but it has never bothered me that much. I just really, really hate having my photo taken, that's all!.....x

I,m with you on that . I tear most of mine up given half a chance, it,s a very rare photo of myself that I like.

Someone so lovely on the inside could never be plain x

Well it's better to be plain than ugly. I have learned the difference riding public transport and peoplewatching, which I could do for Europe. Some folks are just...plain. Others are flat-down scary.
That's one of the things I like about UK and France's movies and serials. They use regular-looking people. I swear all the Hollywood boys and girls look like they came out of the same factory that makes Barbie and Ken.

It's the teeth Ori...it's coming to the UK...all the kids are having braces. One girl I know had the sweetest little face, she has had a brace and I could not believe how she looked...all teeth and no face!
