Here's one for you Charlie:

Buy a loaf of brioche
Buy a tub of good quality ice cream (Hagen Daaz, Ben and Jerry's etc) - whatever flavour you fancy
Buy toppings - whatever goes with the ice cream (whipped cream in can, chocolate sauce, butterscotch sauce, fruit, chopped nuts etc)

Leave ice cream out of freezer for long enough to soften. Take 2 slices of brioche and make Ice cream sandwich, add topping to ice cream and/or top brioche. If you want to get fancy for a dinner party, dip the sandwich sideways into melted chocolate, place on plate and decorate (red fruit always good with chocolate), edible flowers, dust with icing sugar.

Now I read that the "Upper Classes" always refered to "Afters"!Lol! as "Pudding and it was the new rich that started to use the word dessert in the 20' show their scorn for the wannabe's and to keep them elite...the upper classes kept the old "Pudding" word to distinquish them from the new money people.

That sounds pretty good, liverpoolbabe, although I don't like cream myself - I will try the rest of the recipe. It sounds like an unbaked version of Bread and Butter Pudding - only boozier and yummier! :o>

"I don't like cream"

Sorry, don't understand this combination of words.
