You're mad if you think that. ;-)

I went along to TKMaxx, with the intention of looking for a Microplane zester, after being wound up by pixie's rave about them. The only one they'd got was a Kuhn Rohn one, at £8. so I left it, as I didn't to risk it being useless. Mind you, it did have a guard with it, so presume it's sharp?
Anyway, I got really exited because they have a wonderful range of Sistema products in stock. I recently had to order a Noodle Bowl and waited a couple of weeks for it to come into stock. Lo and behold, they had some in TK, so bought another one! I also bought another Breakfast on the Go bowl. Heaven knows why, as there's only me and my dogs at home so only need one! Also came back with a waterproof long coat and a long goose down one. I am now well and truly skint....At least I've convinced myself I definitely don't need a Thermomix - the fact I couldn't afford one is irrelevent, really.....

This is like a "bring a bottle" party at Alcoholics Anonymous - did I mention how much I like the look of the Thermomix but really cannot justify the expense (ok - its now up to you lot to convince me to buy it)

What's mad about more cutlery?

In reply to an earlier post on 22 Nov 2012 14:32:35 GMT
I don't think there is anybody left on this forum in position to call anybody else 'mad', do you?!?!?! :o>

I suppose I was hoping that someone would say that I was mad and should not even consider buying more cutlery........

So far have collected 8 sets for my kitchen cutlery drawer for the same reason as you, my old stuff is cruddy too. Alessi is a good brand, they designers that lemon squeezers that looks likeca rocket ship out of war of the worlds. I just need to get some teaspoons and then I,m set. Very good value I though my old

Isobel...........I too suffer from this complaint - I move from obsession to obsession and having finally cracked and spent a fortune on something "The Buzz" lasts a few short days and then I'm off again. It's nearly always kitchenware with me - expensive gadgets....but I do cook and I do use them to death (she says trying to justify it all) - you are far from alone.

I must say I love storage jars and tins, especially anything a bit retro! I'm a sucker for a nice bit of vintage Portmeirion though I see French Bull do some fab wacky prints.

Cheese, garlic, peel. I agree it is narrow but I had a wider one that was useless! So thought I'd give this ago. Was in TK yesterday...Bargains Galore in the kitchen section! Happy shopping...

Now, that's a thought, with Xmas on its way....I've very recently scoffed the last of my last year's Xmas cake and looking forward to getting a new one from my lovely Sister. I don't know about favourite gadgets, there are so many fruit cake recipes to love, aren't there

I've got a breakfast bowl, too, where you can separate the liquid from the cereal - that's got a spoon, too. Are we sad, or what??

Sistema products are brilliant!

I love this salad bowl: Sistema Salad to Go Lunchbox - except mine is pink. Salad in the bottom, things that make the salad go soggy (like olives, or cucumber) in the little compartments in the top to add in later, then a little tub for dressing in the middle. Oh, and built in cutlery clips on under the tray.

Thanks, pixie, it's the one I looked at, here. I'm off to TK Maxx, if it stops raining to see if they've got any a better deal. This one looks a bit narrow - what are you using it for, other than zesting citrus fruit and parmesan?

Not sure if it is an obsession, but I ad been fed up with our old cruddy cutlery for the last 10 years or so and spotted a nice set in TK Maxx at rock bottom prices, so I bought it. I then threw out the old cruddy set, upgrade the old best set to everyday use, and am now keeping the new set for best. Unfortunately, Tesco is currently running a cutlery deal (every purchase gets you tokens towards the cost of cutlery) which I was ignoring (having just bought from TK Max), but noticed that the design was similar to my recent purchase, so I thought it would be a good idea to collect a few tokens and buy a couple of sets of serving spoons and forks which I am short on. Well, surprise surprise, the Tesco cutlery is really nice and probably better than my new TK Max purchase. So I went back to Tesco and bought a couple of sets of the dessert forks, and now I am toying with going back again and getting everything - is this an obsession - how much is too much cutlery?

And by the way, those of you who were reading the Knife thread - all the knives in all 3 sets make much better screwdrivers than the set I just threw out.

I'm currently in love with Sistema products - their soup and noodle bowls are wonderful, as are their lunch boxes, breakfast on the go-er, and their storage boxes and their............................the soup and noodle bows are red, my fave colour, too, as easy to find amongst all of my other kitchen gadgets. I wish I hadn't started to read this thread because I'm now on the hunter for a microplane grater......

In reply to an earlier post on 20 Nov 2012 21:08:31 GMT
Just read your post about your storage obsession. No, you are not alone, although I resist the impulse as much as I can I just love things to put things in.tins, jars, boxes, bags, jugs and bowls too!!!. At the moment I,m in love with those beautiful boxes they sell in TK Maxx, covered in beautiful paper they come in sets of three different sizes. I stand there for ages thinking, what can I keep in them, where can I put them?? so that I can justify a purchase. I could keep books in them I suppose, all stacked up in big colourful piles....where will it all end.xxxxx
