Lector says:
Well as far as chat show hosts go, then I can't honestly say that I was never a fan of Terry Wogan's style. So I had to laugh when I was reading his 'My View' article in my neighbour's Daily Mail (a rag by the way, I consider barely fit enough to wipe my a*s with! I'd rather not use already soiled paper, thanks!) 'Weekend' magazine recently, about modern chat show hosts and their own style of hosting a show. In it he comments; "It's become much more of a performance by the presenters, who seem to have to be disc jockeys or comedians". And he goes on to say; "'s meant the talk show has evolved into a showcase for their talents rather than a show where what the guest has to say is the most important element." Well I didn't know whether to laugh or cry after reading that! You see for me, on British television, ol' Tell', was one of the first of those very people he was talking about in that article there, by that I mean one of the first to steal the attention away from the guest and put it on the host! Having said all that, I will admit though, that he always comes over as a nice enough guy, and I feel sure that he is genuine enough in that respect. But Michael Parkinson was very different in his chat show host style - although I must say that I thought he made an absolute fool of himself that one time especially (and continues to do so when ever he brings it up) when he interviewed the American actress Sharon Stone and blamed her for the infamous tv chat disaster that that was.

E. Richards says:
Forgot to include that totally talentless mound of silicon, Katie Price, and that guy with a face that resembles the craters on the moon, Gordon Ramsey. I also agree with A.L. Simpson about Kirsty Allslop and her slimy companion Pill Dispenser.

Lector says:
E.R. Exactly! But re. Ramsey; did you mean to say '...with a face like a tw@t that resembles..."?! ;-)

E. Richards says:
Yes, Lector, that's exactly what I meant to say.

Lector says:
SmithsFan, Mathew Wright is one of t-h-e worst, in my opinion. An arrogant so 'n' so, if ever there was one.

SmithsFan says:
Yes, did you see the way he failed to apologise for his Taggart joke, and even used it as an opportunity to have a go at people calling for his resignation.

Lector says:
SmithsFan, Yes. He can be quite nasty - shock-jock-style - when he gets someone 'phoning in with whom he disagrees. So what does he do? He dismisses what they have to say with his usual sarcky remark and shuts them off.

There are several nonentities, sorry presenters that I'd sooner not see or hear ever again, Ant and Dec, J Woss, R Bwand etc among them, but my overwhelming hate are the continuity announcers that try like hell to sound like that bl**dy bloke who did the voiceover for that truly awful BB rubbish, does he still do it? Only ever watched BB1, the other one does Come Dine With Me, or are they the same person? It seems these days accents are OK, if so why not some Black Country or Brum accents or Norfolk or Yorkshire or Suffolk or Cornish? I would prefer a genuine Yam-Yam accent to a put on Geordie/Estuary/Mid-Atlantic noise! Irritating at any price, even the Beeb is guilty of it now, might as well put ads in.

I. Young says:
Lauren Laverne is a fine indie music presenter but I know what you mean about the culture show, where she replaced Verity Sharpe and just how good was she.

Is presenting rocket science. There isn't a single post I would disagree with and it would be harder to have a thread nominating really good presenters. Or is it because the core TV audience are morons, so the likes of Ant and Dec are in great demand.

I have to say it. Keith Lemmon really does wind me up. Unfortunately ITV2 continually push trailers for his show far too often, and I almost feel I have watched it, which I would never do. He seems to think , for some reason, that he is sexy. Do women actually find him attractive? As a bloke, he revolts me, along with the people on his show. It is odd that presemters we dislike, appear to also have others we dislike all on the one show. Biirds of a feather somewhat

Chris says:
Harry Hill is the absolute pits ! I cannot for the life of me fathom out how this creep gets on TV - he is totally unfunny, his voice-overs on You've been framed are crass, annoying and childish in the extreme. He also looks like a total prat. I heard some years ago the great Ronnie Barker saying he admired Hill's comic abilities. If you can hear me Ronnie up in Heaven, surely you weren't serious - or did you actually mean to say Benny Hill ? Please, get this twit off our screens.

Chris :
He may have meant, Dave Hill, Damon Hill or Graham Hill ! ALL are infinitely funnier than that Harry Hill PRAT !

Cartimand says:
Eamon Holmes.

He sits there like some smug, fat, oily teddy bear, grinning like an imbecile and his attempts to indulge in flirty banter with his lady co-presenters or any female guests are utterly cringeworthy.

Surely he can't be worse than Keith Lemmon?

I think you mean the dreadful Lorne Spicer. Like you, I think she stinks

Sou'Wester says:
What's even worse is the "music" that accompanies the show. The programmes are absolutely dreadful and all the presenters sound incredibly patronising. The whole thing plays out as if it's a presentation for a class of particularly dim-witted 2nd. year infants.
