I've been dabbling in some home projects with children's literature for my own amusement and wanted to collect some opinions as to whether any one's children would enjoy reading about a Princess who grows up in an entirely fictional country. My drafts' vocabulary have not been the stereotypical 7 year old girl fantasy but more the children's equivalent of the Royal Family but with more events, conspiracy, and less ceremony. Does anyone think their children would be interested?

I think something which would appeal to boys too would be great, as my seven year-old boy is interested in kings and queens, but would switch off if I said it centred around a princess. Hope this helps and good luck!

I agree with M Render. My 5 year old son is interested in the royal family, and I would like to read to him about it, he does not like anything scary, and I find books always seem to be focused on either girls or boys alone. My son likes ponies, and rainbow magic stories!, he asks why there arent any boys in the stories. Any puzzles I find of ponies have only pictures of girls in them.
Back to your question, yes I do think its a good idea.

There is a new series coming out soon called Princess Haggis Ears and other adventures in Scossland -it's for kids age 5+ and I think boys would like it too as there's a dragon, goblin, Prince Turnip Nose, evil fairy, wolves and so on
