Hi

My Canon 350D is suddenly not switching on anymore. And just before that happened I also started having problems with my Canon EFS 17-85mm lens jamming. So, it's clearly time for a visit to a repair shop. But I'm always wary of these electronics shops. Can anyone recommend a good place here in London, UK?

Thanks

Armin

Hi

I have a feeling that neither will be economical to repair, but however to answer your question the two places which I have used for repairs, warranty, and general service work are; Fixation UK in Vauxhall and the Canon UK RCC in Borehamwood.

For a first class service contact H. Lehmann Ltd, 247/249 London Road, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST4 5AA. Tel No. 01782 413611.

They are an official Canon service center and provide a nationwide service.

There are mixed reports about the quality of Lehmans and the cost. But there again that applies to Canon too. I have never used Canon repairers - when my Canon went wrong it was more cost effective to buy anew camera (of another brand) which is still going strong!

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate it. I'm planning to give Fixation a try, having heard good reports from other sources too.

Just to update: I sent my camera to Fixation and was very happy with their service. Efficient and thorough.

Luton Camera Repairs did a fantastic job on my Canon. It came out with a lovely sparkly clean viewfinder and silky smooth action.

But then it was a Canon A-1 35mm SLR. Should be good for another 30 years now quite happily.
