I write under the name of David Black. I'm an ex-serviceman and wondered if this thread might help some of the 'good guys' out there?
I spotted a U.S. scheme recently for wounded serving and injured ex-servicemen who can't get about too much at the moment, which provides them with free books from Kindle.
I write Special Forces thrillers and Medieval adventures which might pass some time while they recover?

The Great Satan (Shadow Squadron)
Playing for England
Siege of Faith (The Chronicles of Sir Richard Starkey)

If anyone knows someone military who is hurt and has time on their hands and could use a good story, I'd be happy to provide my Kindle books to them free of charge. Please pass this message on to anyone it might help.
Just email me via:

It isn't much, but I'd be proud and really delighted to help, if I can...

I have also seen a similar scheme called Operation Ebook Drop which I hope to become a part of in the coming weeks.

In the meantime I am happy to offer servicemen and ex servicemen my late Grandfather's book (Sojourn in Silesia: 1940 - 1945) for free in ebook format. If you email I can supply a code to access the book on Smashwords.

Hello Mr Lacey, I have forwarded on your offer to another ex-serviceman who is looking for books to read. I will give him the opportunity to contact you directly. I donate royalties on my own books to charity and try to help out where I can, so it's really nice to see others doing their bit as well. Good luck with the books, I will be taking a look myself - Karen

Hi Karen,

That's great! I am absolutely delighted to be associated with helping any of our brave guys. In this cruel world, after the dreadful scenes of the recent inner city riots it's really good to do something to backup our society's real heroes. Please feel free to pass on any of my humble scribbling to anyone else in the same boat who wants something to read and could use a lift, no-matter how humble!
