You should know better than to post here as this isn't the first time you have promoted your book. Whilst I applaud your frank story this is not the place to promote it. I too have a book similar to yours so understand where you are coming from. However there are rules and I have copied and pasted what Amazon say below:
Please do not use these discussion forums to promote your own book. It is both unwelcome and against Amazon rules. Starting on December 15, 2011, all activity will be limited to the `Meet Our Authors' community.

Amazon recently created a new community for authors. The `Meet Our Authors' community is designed to give authors a space to engage with one another and promote their latest and greatest works.

With the advent of the new community, we will no longer allow self-promotional posts in other communities. Starting on December 15, 2011, all "shameless self-promotion" activity will be limited to the `Meet Our Authors' community. Promotional threads outside of these forums will be removed.

We invite authors and interested readers to come join the discussion at:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/forum/meet%20our%20authors

We look forward to seeing you!

I say ... steady on, Janice!

I dislike "authors" plugging their own books as much as anyone, but the posts you have replied to were made more than two years ago - before MOA was even set up.

Would "African Survivor" subtitle, "Love, Apartheid, Flight," which is inspirational about an ordinary woman, trained and taught as a teacher in Africa, be the book you're looking for?

If you want to read an inspirational biography by an ordinary person, go for OUT OF THE DARKNESS by Sabine Christodoulou.
it describes what it was like for just an ordinary girl to grow up in Nazi Germany, to survive the war and post-war conditions and manage to rebuild her life with husband and children.
