Dan Fante says:
You mean 'relevant'. Normally I wouldn't be so pedantic but the self-publicity stuff on here is tiresome. There's a forum specifically for it, so take it there.

Seconded Dan, in fact it is getting to be beyond tiresome. It is bad enough when threads get hi-jacked, but to start one up to plug a book? Words fail me.

TomC says:
I have a more cynical view: I suspect that most threads on the book forums, particularly those of the "does anyone know a good book for ..." variety, are started with the intention of encouraging spammers to advertise their wares. It seems to be rather effective; within a very little time, such threads become infested with them.

One must conclude that, despite what they claim, it suits Amazon very well to provide a haven for spammers, provided that they receive a cut of the proceeds - if any.

I Readalot says:
Definitely a cynical view, but then anyone who reads these threads for long enough is bound to become cynical (I know I have) and you could be right. The spamming seemed to reduce quite a bit when the MOA was first set up but it gradually started to creep back in and now, as you say, threads become infested with them.
