You know, I remember vaguely hearing about this somewhere - can't remember where...

What do you think the doco should be called? And there's got to be a way we can work the Lusitania into it?

Are TV stations' opinions worth considering? Where did 'Man of truth' discover his 'interesting' fact? I think we should be told.
On a related note, he wasn't really very funny (personal opinion); the Pythons were much funnier and more original. Don't get me started on Hill's appalling sexism - and, yeah, the Pythons weren't squeaky clean, either.
Next week: Harry Worth - funnier than Terry Scott? Discuss.
Oh dear, I've spent longer on this than I meant to.

You really are obsessed with Benny Hill, aren't you.

My guess is that this won't happen as Monty Python was made by the BBC but Benny Hill was made by ITV.

Man of truth says:
Benny Hill Street documentary would be a good name for the Benny Hill doc.

Man of truth says:
Yes, something in "Hill Street" for the Benny hill doc!

Man of truth says:
There was even that great Current Biography article on him in 1983 that showed he was the funniest man in the whole UK!

Hill's comic work is sidesplitting!

Show a picture of Benny as a boy and superimpose it over the neighboprhood where he grew up.

Man of truth says:
An actor playing Benny as a youngster would not work. NO authenticity!

Exkingzog says:
Didn't I read somewhere that Benny's grand-parents perished on the Lusitania, fleeing from the pogroms in Russia? It would make for a particularly poignant section of the proposed documentary if we had this scene in which Benny's parents explained 'Lusitania', 'pogrom' and their significance to Benny. What a shame that Dennis Waterman got old; he'd have been splendid in the part of the young Benny; the resemblance is quite astounding.

Man of truth says:
Benny Hill is pure comic dynamo.

Exkingzog says:
Surely you mean "a pure comic dynamo". It's curious, however, that some people think him to be even funnier than Jerry Lewis.

Nobody does comedy better than Benny Hill.

Exkingzog says:
I'm afraid that pretty much everybody living on this planet does comedy better than Benny Hill. There are, of course, a few exceptions.

Hill---a one-in-a-billion comic.

The Hill documentary will be honestly great. It will almost write itself!

Exkingzog says:
This is excellent news. I'm not sure about the 'almost', though. I'd like it to just get on and write itself without any further bother to me...or anybody else, for that matter.

counting the days till they make a hill documentary!

Keep counting...but don't hold your breath at the same time.

Man of truth says:
Nothing as comically great as Hill's perfomances.

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Mar 2014 23:14:42 GMT
Exkingzog says:
What a depressing possibility. How about "Over The Hill" as a title for your 'unlikely to be made in my lifetime' documentary? Just a thought.

Man of truth says:
Who could narrate the Hill documentary?

In reply to an earlier post on 12 Mar 2014 22:21:31 GMT
Exkingzog says:
Bernard Hill. He does a lot of voice-over work.
