Doctor Who

Well now that there is a new Doctor, what does everyone think?

My Favourite Doctor was Tom Baker with I think Tenant and Smith in joint 2nd.

I do like the idea that they have chosen an Older Doctor and it does seem like he will be allowed to finally have a Scottish accent based on the little dialogue we saw at the end of Smiths reign. Tenant must be happy about that; he was not allowed to keep his, though he really was not bothered by it.

Some news has come out in the last couple of days

Series 8 will be 1 continuous run as will S9 Moffat has said, no big gaps mid year. Also Moffat said that he wants to change up the doctor a little now, or else there would be no point in making such a dramatic change of actor. He wants this Doctor to hearken back to the likes of Troughton and both Bakers as a more dangerous and less likeable boyfriendy sort of Doctor, a bit more kick azz

He said

"We need the Kick up the Arze Doctor, in a way, to frighten you and make you think, oh, it's a different show again."

Sounds good to me as each Doctor has to have his own style and kind of shows that are very different to the previous incarnation.

S8 this year and S9 will be 2015. S8 filming now in the UK.

Anyway had not see anything on there about who, so there is now, feel free to comment or ignore as you wish

I think it's a really brave move by the BBC. At the end of Tenant's doctor I started to get a bit dismissive of Dr Who. But watching some of the repeats of Smith's reign as the doctor I admit I was very wrong. Why I think it's brave though is the last few series, probably going back to Eccleston, there's been that relationship bordering on romantic between the Doctor and his assistant. But also they're good looking young guys which probably fits nicely with Dr Who's main demographic. And now with Capaldi that's pretty much taken out of the equation and taking it back to more of an old school kind of Doctor. I'd love to see him play it like Malcolm Tucker from the Thick of It, but that's probably unlikely.

I have a fondness for Peter Davidson, largely because that's the first doctor I watched as a kid. But I have to admit also liking McCoy though that might have something to do with Ace. McCoy has a couple of my favourite episodes though, "Ghost Light" and also "The Curse of Fenric".
