It's been revealed that this will happen.

So many questions.

Is it Nolans batman being that Nolan produced MOS

Why? So soon into superman

Personally and I know it's not popular, I hate justice league, I think superman is great as is batman. I don't think they work well together in the same universe.

I think marvels universe works better together and would happily see avengers have wolverine or spidey, but I am not loving this idea at all and yet with the success of avengers it was inevitable.

And in a clear indication that the action Forum should be removed, I have zero replies to what is quite big news.

Yet the discussion is going strong within the Video Games forum on a thread started to discuss the new X men movie.

amazon delete the action forum, its a ghost town.

Cam you do lose your rag when people dont respond straight the way dont you ; ).

This is 3rd thread i have seen so far discussing this film, and I didnt want to repeat myself for the 3rd time, but i will if it makes you feel more loved.

I previously wrote i really dont like the sound of this cross over, because .....

I did actually for all it's faults enjoy Man of Steel and I think it has set up a sequel quite well. So I don't really want a Batman/Superman film, lets just carry with Superman and get him really good, bring Lex Luthor in etc . The 2nd film in Superhero franchise tends to be the best one anyway, once you have all the origin stuff out the way you can tell a proper Superhero film. I mean we just watched Superman get his a55 kicked for 2 hours, so do really want to watch Batman do it all over again?

That is if it is a VS film, or at least incorporates a Bat vs. Supe battle, which if the quote from Frank Millers novel they played at the announcement would suggest. Plus if it is a Vs film you can guarantee Bats will win, the human beating the god and all that rubbish .. ooh, plus Bats is easily the more popular character.

Maybe I am wrong and it could be a team up film, but still I just think it's a bad idea, a rush to do battle with Marvel and The Avengers and desperate ploy to get Batman back on the big screen and I think it is a bad idea.

So no I am not joining the Comic geeks in the their applause, I am only a fan of comic book films not comics I admit, so I just cant see it working. WB you have re invested in Superman franchise, gave him a decent if not amazing start, so just make an amazing sequel a man of Steel 2 to rival Donners/ Lester's Superman 2

I just think its an underused forum Gaz.

Don't bother the discussion is better on the one you were on already. Let this place die quickly lol

Man of steel was pretty rubbish and a Superman vs Batman film sounds even worse. It screams of obvious cash in. Man of steel failed to get the same box office money as the Batman film and didnt match Amazing Spiderman either. Warner are now trying to use the fanbase built from Nolan's Batman films to boost number that to see a Man of steel film.

Exactly good idea with bad directing. And I still think Williams theme music would have helped. I thought MOS was much better than Superman Returns, but did not match the Batman films.

All I know is apparently its done about 300m so far, that's not spectacular
Edit - 300m I heard on Amazon take it with a pinch
They cast it great, but directed it like crap

Man of steel has taken over 630 million dollars at the box office worldwide and its still not been released in every country around the world (out in Japan on August the 30th).

Seriously, anyone who says man of steel has been a flop or a disappointment at the box office is way off the mark. For a film that cost 230 million dollars that's a huge return. It should finish around 750 million when it leaves the cinema then you've got the DVD/blu ray sales to factor in.

Despite the vocal minority on the Internet claiming its not as good as people hoped the general film going public have proved that man of steel was a popular film.

Only the dark knight/dark knight rises, avengers and iron man 3 have beat man of steel passing the 1 billion dollar mark. Man of steel has so beaten every other marvel film at the box office.

No doubt the fans will love man of steel but the movie is a mess in which they forgot to inject any emotion or story.

I'm actually looking forward to this. I loved the Dark Knight Trilogy and Man Of Steel, probably because Batman and Superman have been two of my favourite comic book heroes. The third Spidey but he's Marvel of course. Anyhow with this Batman/Superman movie coming out in possibly 2015 (although thats only 2 years away) I shall definately go to see this.

Does the expression "flogging a dead horse" apply here? When so many of the recent comic book superheroes given the Hollywood treatment failing to hit the board never mind the bull is it time for a rethink? Remember the old sages wisdom "90% of everything is crap",just be grateful for the other 10% 'cos occasionally they get it right and when they do it's Soooooo good! Among these some of my personal favourites have been panned and I fail to see why(Terminator Salvation,John Carter ,both outstanding;Daredevil,Electra even Catwoman, though not brilliant were still very enjoyable and welcome additions to my collection). But then maybe it's me - Blade Runner- what a boring tedious little film it is; despite numerous attempts to watch it all the way through I have failed miserably.

No it doesn't! .... it proves lots of people have been to see it and the idea of a new Superman film is popular, not that they necessarily enjoyed The Man of Steel or that it was a good film. I mean I'm sure lots of people went to see Superman Returns lol

So unless you are suggesting them millions where made by people going over and over again to see it because it was soooo good, the box office success doesn't say anything about the quality of the film. i.e people dont know if it's any good until they have seen it.

I agree its not a financial flop, but so what? Just from my friends and family etc I can see there are are lots of folk that where less than amazed in some cases they hated it. I very much doubt these feelings are limited to folk I know. So I would suggest there seems far more than a minority that didn't think it was the Superman film they hoped for.

Dont get me wrong I liked it, I thought it was a solid 7/10, Cavil and Shannon were superb. And even though it wasnt perfect I thought it set up a sequel that had a strong chance of being the brilliant Superman film we all want.

But If its going to be a Batman/Superman tag battle or any other similar mess, then I guess that chance has gone. But we can but hope.

I agree Gaz, it was an ok reboot, but needed to take a step up for the sequel and I dont think Supes Vs Batman will come anywhere close to that for me.

Its just a bad decision and far too quick in the life of these movies

You cown downvote it now whoever you are, try commenting for a change, azzwipe

After the opening weekend the reviews and word of mouth would soon start to spread so to continue making money this long after release is a solid indication that a lot of people liked it. Is is sure fire proof that this film is popular amount fans, no, but its a good sign that its still making money this long after release.

If what you say is true and people are going to see it because superman is popular why did superman returns only do 450 million at the box office then? It's because lots of people flocked to it during opening weekend then when word of mouth got out people started to turn their nose up at it.

Why did batman and robin flop at the cinema when batman as character is popular? People don't just go to the cinema blindly just because they are fans of certain characters. Maybe some do but a lot of people will listen to friends/family opinions and reviews. Critically man of steel has taken a bit of a beating so I can only assume that word of mouth is dragging people into the cinema.

For every person you know that didn't like the film I know someone that did and, including myself I know a few people who've seen it multiple times.

Gaz, I suspect you've just got a bee in your bonnet about me and would argue with me if I told you the sky is blue.

Man of Steel had very, very effective trailers which I think brought a lot of people in, including me. It was a shocking film though. I personally thought it started out really well but tailed off considerably in the middle and end. The fight scenes were pants - unforgivable for an action/superhero film.

The Sky is not blue it reflects the sea !

That was a joke..... I have no bee at all , I don't have any feelings either way for you Wayne, I posted my feeling on the film before your post. I have not even commented on your thread about Man of Steel. I just disagreed that good box office figures automatically mean this is superb Superman film and loved by all. I also did this without any insults or nastiness.

What you say is very true, and that is fair point when you ask why it has done more than Returns. However I am not saying Man of Steel is a Superman returns or Batman and Robin level of cackness so it makes sense it has done better than them.

I also have to say (but without any evidence) that most of the word of mouth I have heard has been less than steller. Can you honestly say that Man of Steel is thought of in as high regard as say The Dark Knight or even Superman 2 ?

Just look at people comments on here, your thread on here had no one that who shared your utter love for the film. I am not saying this forum represents the entire cinema going publics opinion, but you could take a hint that it is not everyone's perfect Superman film.

I'm not arguing about it, I am not saying its awful like a lot of people. I think it has it's faults and it is not the perfect Superman film, but it is still good and probably if im honest the best Supe film since Superman 2.

I just think you have to open your self up to the fact that not everyone ( in fact I would suggest very few) thinks it's a superb film like you do. In fact I am surprised you like it as much as you do, I guess its your knowledge of the comic books, or omething us cinema going simpletons dont get, that cause you to have this elevated opinion of the film.

Anyway back on topic ....what is your take on this Bat/Supe film? Loving the MoS as much as you do, wouldn't you have preferred to see MoS 2?
