I have been wondering about remakes and I thought to myself that the problem with most of them is that, they remake films that do not need to be remade. I mean there was nothing wrong with the original, RoboCop, Total Recall etc

As I was pondering this the clever chap Kevinthekitten asked

"Why don't they start remaking crap films with better actors in them, better screen writers and better directors "

I couldn't agree more ... think of all the successful reboots , Batman , Bond they all followed on from dreadful films. If you must make a remake I think the movie going public would be much more open to new version of something that could be improved!

What would you remake ?

i would remake Tron. not because it was bad because for its time it was so HiTech, but simply because with modern Tech it could be soo much better and could have another quality soundtrack.

plus it has Lightcycles and Light discs and awesome outfits.

If they had not made that less than stellar Tron sequel, which already re did the special effects, someone may of,

there were definite improvements needed to TL, but i still really enjoyed it. needed to be longer though and have a bit more to do with the ISOs and Trons actual "legacy"

Like the video-games themselves I'd like to see the Resi' series get rebooted. I actually don't mind the last few films but it's become so messy it feels like it needs something similar to Casino Royal did for Bond.

That is a great shout Tetro, i quite enjoyed first couple of the films, but they never felt like the games.

Without verging to much towards a "bromance", thanks for that.

By the way what about "reboots" of "hollow man" and "lost in space", the first could have a better screenplay perhaps? And the latter, a better director and lead hero?

Id def like a new Hollow Man , I really liked the original, maybe a reboot would be better idea than a sequel.

Id like Blade Trinity to be redone, it was crap.

Whilst we are it do Indy 4 and Die Hard 5 again

Re-do die hard 4.0 aswell but i'm not really bothered as my interest in the "die hard" series ends after "with a vengeance".

They have already made a sequel to "hollow man" it starred christian slater and was a direct to dvd crapfest:-(

With "die hard" in mind, what about the fall from grace of "john mctiernan", going from predator and die hard to the flawed mess of 13th warrior to his run ins with the law recently.

Yeah i have "seen" Hollow Man 2 in the shops, managed to avoid actually watching it tho.

Yeah thought id not seem John Mctiernan in teh directors chair for some time.

BTW I loved Die Hard 4.0

i dunno, any action film seemed good when i were a teenager, especially when Blade was a for real black action hero, wasnt any around at the time to my knowledge so the whole blade thing just seemed to cool :) plus he was a vampire halfbreed, i mean come on!!! hehe

Yeah Blade 1 and 2 were class, 3 was dire imo. That scene as they go through their iPods to choose the best tunes to kill vampires to, come on please. Forgetting the logic of wearing headphones while hunting none of them chose Islands in the Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rodgers. Aren't we cool with our drum and bass. No, no you're not.

I do hope that's not the Antonio Banderas 13th Warrior you're referring to as a flawed mess ?
I might have to find you and break your typing fingers if that's the case.

That's not my opinion, i enjoy the film, i was just describing what many "critics" have said about it. Apologies if i made it sound like it was my opinion of it.

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Dec 2013 13:07:42 GMT
Ah well then .. in that case I'll let you off. Just don't let it happen again ;)
I love that film, watched it when I was about 12 and it's been in my Top list ever since.

And pah to critics, at the end of the day everybody's a critic.
