lol, yeah i remember when ITV used to edit the crap out of films, just so they could fill the 9pm slot.

Since the regulator became Ofcom, channels tend to show films un-edited at 9pm and later but during the day it is still really bad and Channel 5 are the worst for showing 15 rated films well before the 9pm watershed:(

On a 'Video nastie' documentary i'v seen, there was a scene with a "Tory" mp of the time who said he wanted to see all films rated 18.

Yeah I mentioned that Die hard massacre a couple of pages back.

As I said the best one though has to be Robocop (and this was on at 10:30 pm)

"You're gonna be a bad mother crusher" lol

It just makes me sad :(
In the shop scene the criminal walking toward Robocop saying "WHY ME! WHY ME!" HAHAHA

In reply to an earlier post on 27 Jan 2014 16:30:58 GMT
LOL Why me ! ... I forgot that, I remember someone actually said Peeved rather than Pi55ed, it was 10:30 at night !!!

I think that I may have a video of that showing somewhere in storage. might have to dig that little gem out.

Die hard with a vengeance had some ridiculous edits made by the BBFC, mostly to the language ie F bombs, they even cut some S bombs.

Interestingly though, I watched Die Hard 2 on ITV one night back in the 90's and it had swearing and some nasty bullet splatter scenes that were NOT on my original retail VHS copy?

They are in the DVD/Blu ray editions of today though.

A thing that annoys me, is when i am in a Supermarket and i see Die hard 2 on dvd. There is an 18 cert uncut dvd on one shelf and then i will see an old cut 18 cert on another:(

The Big a lebowski best edit ever. "This is what happens when you meet a stranger in the Alps"

Are these editing cuts done by the channels or do they buy them already edited by the distributor/studio? I know they make multiple versions for stuff like showing on airplanes etc. I only wonder because maybe they're cheaper to purchase.

In reply to an earlier post on 27 Jan 2014 22:24:41 GMT
These specific ones on here are what tv channels have edited themselves but censors like the MPAA and BBFC have done so in the past and still do but the BBFC in particular are a lot more proficient when it comes to making alterations and also a lot fairer than they used to be.

Scarface
where did you get that beauty scar tough guy? eating pineapple? :D

I always wondered who they get to voice the additional/replacement non swear words in films, I mean it was probably some ITV canteen tea boy that said "Cimosabe" in the Die hard cut, it certainly didn't sound like Bruce Willis.

Does anyone know of a time in the 80s or early 90s when a 15 or 18 cert film was broadcast un-edited on any of the main channels by mistake?

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 13:16:13 GMT
No but I remember when Bruno Brookes accidently played the un edited version of Rage against the Machines 'killing in the name Of" on Radio 1 in the afternoon lol

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 13:30:59 GMT
Did he play the whole song or did he realise early on?

Posted on 28 Jan 2014 13:35:44 GMT
The whole song I believe, im only recounting the legend I heard, I never heard it myself, shame !

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jan 2014 14:02:35 GMT
It was radio 5 and they didn't play it, it was a live performance where Rage "forgot" to play the radio edit.

Yes, Rage got Christmas No.1 due to an online movement and then Radio5 had them on to play it (Rage having seemingly promised to play a cut version!). Radio5 really should have thought about who they were dealing with, as if Rage were ever going to listen to someone telling them to not do something, especially with THAT song LOL.

From memory, I think they got a few lines into the certain bit in the song before Radio5 cut them off.
