Who is better DC or Marvel? I'll give you a hint: Who the f*ck cares!!! What's for adults and what's for kids? I'll give you a hint: Fanboy arguments. Enjoy what you enjoy, why do you want to put something somebody else enjoys down?

Anyway as this thread has Dark Knight Rises in the title I was wondering what people think about the new trailer. Specifically Bane and the heavy suggestion this will be the end.

this is the end of the nolan/bale collaborations. trilogy - nicely tied up. DKR will be ace.

avengers will be good fun, good action scenes, scarlett johansson looking super hot, and handsome men in tight suits, (not that i'm into that kinda stuff, ahem!) but just won't have the depth of DKR. this won't make avengers a bad film. no doubt it'll be very good to watch.

watchmen is an immense film. i haven't read the graphic novel , but i have the extended blu-ray and it's gorgeous and brilliant. i like zack snyder, but not seen sucker but dawn of the dead, 300 and watchmen were/are all brilliant films.

inglourious basterds is a brilliant film too. yes - it is owned by christoph waltz, but that doesn't make the film any worse. he owns it the same way daniel day lewis owns 'there will be blood'. he just makes a very good film an exceptional film. for me equal best tarantino film with pulp fiction, altho i actually prefer watching IB probs cos i've seen pulp fiction too much

"Marvel heros and villians do not have depth of DC characters"

Yet both Dr Doom and Magneto are routinely rated as much better villains than any of the DC ones in both fan and critic polls

Watchmen is an interesting take on the Source Material, Snyder made some amendments to Alan Moore's Original Ending, but it stays pretty true to the tone and look.

I've probably painted a Target on myself saying that....

As for Avengers vs DKR - One will be Colourful and Fun, the other a Grimmer and Darker tale altogether.

Yeah, I noticed that - it was either Christmas eve or Christmas day - one was Bronson (which I haven't seen so will do) and the other was Bauer's second favourite film.

Some nice festive viewing, which will make a pleasant change from Big and Robbie the f**king Reindeer...

I'm just watching the far less impressive Clash of the titans remake! ..... They take the p1ss out of the poor mechanical owl in that !

Posted on 23 Dec 2011 15:21:20 GMT

Everything that you just said I completly agree with.

Bauer, remakes are generally FTL!!
Tel, Bronson is good. Tom Hardy is brilliant as Bronson, fast becoming my favourite actor. :)

In Bruges is on Film4 tuesday night!! Get in!!

Watched Thor yesterday, really enjoyed it. Watched Captain America today with the kids again(saw it at the cinema) enjoyed it even more. Are they as good as the Nolan Batman films? No of course not but stick him in control of a new Daredevil film and watch the love all things Marvel bloom.

I personally will enjoy seeing both the Dark Knight and The Avengers. But as for the DC, Marvel carry on. They both have a track record for churning out utter crap. DC however are more guilty of building a character and series up to lofty heights only to hand it to some pretentious arty w;nk stain to pull it all back down again.

Bauer your comments about Captain America being a Yankee poster boy made me chuckle did you never watch 24? Jack Bauer was a true blue Captain America;-)

Posted on 26 Dec 2011 21:32:17 GMT
Yes Dave but Bauer used a moust towel to pull someone's insides out, not a big frizbee :)

I am a huge batman fan but not of Christian Bale which makes watching the new dark knight films very uncomfortable. At the same time I am a huge Avengers fan, as I think the individual origin films are well done I am hoping Joss Whedon will do a great job bringing them altogether in the avengers. So for me Avengers, TDKR will be watched on dvd possibly just to see if it is as bad as the last couple. Heath Ledger's joker was great but was the only good thing in the film for me, although Mark Hamill's joker is still the best for me. Although everyone has their own opinions and requirements of films, this is just mine.

Tough one that. I'm a big fan of Marvel and love the comics and new films leading up to The Avengers and am very much looking forward to that big screen team up. However, I really love the Chris Nolan Batman films and cannot wait for The Dark Knight Rises!

God I hate fan boys. Why does it have to one or the other?
Personally I'm looking forward to both
