I think I'm not alone in this: audiences are setting the bar too low these days: if I catch a couple of good sequences in an Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi movie, chances are I'll be telling people I've enjoyed it. It didn't use to be like this in the 80s/early 90s. Consider this: in the last two decades, how many big budget movies can you point out that weren't a book/comic/game adaptation, a sequel/prequel, a reboot and/or had a somewhat familiar plot?
Even if you can name a few, do you feel these are the "exception" or the "rule"?
It's not like I don't love them (the good ones, that is) but it's like a fellow movie fan eloquently wrote - right here - on an Amazon review: "if somebody wants to make a new movie these days, Creativity means going to the nearest Blockbuster fishing for ideas..."
I would like to invite you to check out a Concept presentation for a fresh Movie Trilogy - that got excellent feedback from medium-level industry professionals - even the former Director from a popular TV Series offered to direct it - but never got within "radar range" of Hollywood's blockbuster stakeholders.
Look for it on everybody's favourite video spot under bdmaboutpower.
