It's just a bit of fun Tetro.
Wow, that's an 80s' overdose !

Not a dictatorship O'Brien, but it somewhat defeats the point of the thread.

One of my choices will be:

Rewind To The 80S Collection (Footloose, The Naked Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Trading Places, Flashdance, Airplane!, Crocodile Dundee, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Pretty In Pink) [DVD]

Hm, yeah, that's right - but I love that movie!

And wouldn't mentioning a film like "Cast Away", like some people did, also be a strange choice?
;-)

Dogmatix says:
Sorry KS-Cologne, you're marooned on an island, surrounded by water and you want to watch a film about a ship sinking? Strange choice.

Now takes tongue out of cheek

Gary O'Brien says:
Sure, box sets are ok, after all this isn't a dictatorship.

I'd take these:

Titanic (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) [1997] - one of my all-time favourites, great drama, touching love story and spectacular visual effects; watched it in 3D this year and I liked the film even better

Rashomon [1950] [Special Edition] [DVD] - Kurosawa's classic masterpiece about truth, makes you think and think and want to watch the film again

Funny Girl [DVD] [1968] - Streisand's first feature film gave her the well-deserved Oscar, great singing (of course), great songs, great acting and both a funny and sad story about Fanny Brice, the former star of the Ziegfeld Follies

Aliens - Special Edition [1986] [DVD] - IMO the best SF/horror movie ever made, especially the extended version of the film, it's even a little better than the first Alien movie

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (Limited Edition, Includes Theatrical Version) [DVD] - already seen many times and it's still a lot of fun; episode V may be the better movie, but episode IV just came first ;-)

You can't have box sets surely. Otherwise my choices would be The Sopranos Box set (28 discs), Curb your Enthusiasm box set (15 discs), The Wire box set (24 discs), Seinfeld box set (33 discs), Jeeves and Wooster box set (8 discs). Total discs: 108. Say a disc holds about 3 hours. 324 hours. Almost two weeks of solid tv. When the rescue party eventually turn up I might have to ask them to come back in a couple of days time.

Dogmatix says:
"The Pillars of the Earth" Brilliant story, good cast, good acting, compulsive watching.
"Carry on Cleo" My favourite carry on, Never fails to make me laugh
"The Magnificent Seven" always enjoyed this, but not the sequels
"True Grit" John Wayne at his best
" The Postman Always Rings Twice" Just for the sexy kitchen table scene
Um! I don't mean that the kitchen table was sexy, I should have put a comma after the word sexy, I just thought I'd say that to show how important good punctuation is.

Good point!
Although technically you only need 1 disc to signal a passing plane/ship/Flintoff powered pedalo.
Oh and Durable CD/DVD Lens Cleaner as there is a slim chance it will be a tad sandy.

All you would need is "Cast Away [DVD] [2001]" this would show you how to survive, build a boat, get back home and keep your job with Fed Ex even though you have been off for years without ringing in once !

Ray Mears Extreme Survival Series - 1 And 2 [2003] [DVD] - no-one carries off chino shorts as well as Mears.
Cast Away [DVD] [2001] - the incredible plane crash.
Schindler's List [DVD] [1994] - for when I start to feel sorry for myself.
Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy (Episodes I-III) [Blu-ray] [1999] - on bluray as a) it is CGI heavy and b) I don't want to see that abomination again.
A VIRTUAL LOG FIRE - A LOG FIRE WITHOUT ALL THE HASSLE - NINE INDIVIDUAL LOG FIRE OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM - time saver.
