From how far away can I expect to pick up a signal?

I use mine on holiday in Greece - I put it on the balcony using a USB extension cable and connected to an open wifi network across the bay which was about 5 km away but in direct line of sight

I also use the Alfa 9dBi WiFi Booster SMA OMNI-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna with Magnetic Base which is also on Amazon for about £10 and replaces the standard 5dBi antenna supplied with the unit

if nothing is in the way, anywhere between 100-300 meters depending on the device producing the signal

Dont know exact distance I have my hub downstairs in the conservatory at the rear of the house and device is connected to a computer in the upstairs front bedroom and has given us the best signal we have ever had
