5.0 out of 5 stars You need this 9 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
Quite simply amazing. A fantastic advert for intelligent minimal techno from the main man at Kompakt (check out this groundbreaking German techno label for more astounding soundings). A great mix is complimented by superb track selections from some of the best minimal artists such as Superpitcher (one of the coolest producers on the scene). The tracks range from main room stompers to head nodding comfy couch time out beats and brain dancing jaw wobbling spine tinglers. Lovely stuff! :bounce:

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Audio Bliss 6 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD
This CD is what makes me get up in the morning, and go to sleep at night. I can listen to it 24/7. It is perfect. Michael Mayer is a genius, and knows how to pick out the perfect songs to have a phenomenal CD. This disk is just amazing, with some great minimal beats. This isn't for your regular club music fan, this is for people who like depth, intelligence, and meaning to their music. A CD has never struck me as a piece of art, yet this CD has made me realize that music just isn't about mindless beats. Don't get this CD if you are looking for a good party album. Get this CD if you want some great, intelligent music. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Techno Mix 8 May 2006
By R. Mullaney VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Michael Mayer was pioneering the minimal techno sound way before it became mainstream and his Fabric mix is infinitely more interesting than the hundreds of boring minimal mixes that are being released at present. As well as repetetive clicks and beeps Mayers records are warmed up with lush strings, piano rifts and ghostly vocals. The mixing is not perfect but Mayer concentrates more on tracks that complement one another rather than ones that mix seamlessly. Richard Davis's excellent Bring Me Closer blends into the rare piano mix of Westbams Oldschool Baby beautifully and the mix begins to build into a more techno sound from here. Highlights include Robag Wruhme 'Killerteppich' and the wonderful 'Easy Lee' by Villalobos. If you are interested in the minimal sound, avoid the Audion mix and head straight for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 12 July 2005
Format:Audio CD
I absolutely agree with pymguy. I have all the Fabric series of CD's so far and this rates by far as one of their best releases. Michael Mayer has put together an unusual blend of styles and tracks and has managed to create an intelligent and throughly enjoyable mix.
I would also like to state that the Fabric Series of CD's are an excellent way of hearing new/underground DJ's and artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the tastier slices of the Fabric cake 16 Jan 2006
By *
Format:Audio CD
Fabric cds are generally pretty high quality mixes by top DJs - I must confess I'd never heard of Michael Mayer but wanted to expand my Fabric collection a bit and was swayed by the funky artwork (pretty cool even among the usual esoteric Fabric fare) and the other reviews on this page.
And it rocks. This is what Room 1 sounds like on a saturday when someone decent is on; deep, powerful bass with a symphony of progressive techno over the top. Aural oil and honey mixed together.
The first thing that I noticed on checking out the trackisting was that the first song was also repeated again at the end. Look closer - they're different mixes - and in practice are not only distinct enough to be of novel interest, but have different characters selected to start and to end the mix fittingly. This isn't just proficiency and depth of musical reportoire - it's showing off. And it works and I love it.
The cd is strong throughout, the tempo builds suitabley (not that it starts off sedately in the first place) and deliberately tapers off with the last track. Track three is an absolute storm if I had to pick a favorite.
All Fabric cds are created equal but some are created more equal than others? Afraid so. Oil and honey? You'll see.
