This book is just exceptional!!!... I was so excited when I first saw it. To find a book that gives you details of all those "hidden" hotels that you can never find - a little off the beaten track is simply a treasure!!...Its so beautifully written too. The photos are just wonderful and jump off the page at you.. This book is a must for anyone who wants to travel to greece if only to capture the imagination of what is over there. I highly recommend it. I have it sitting on my coffee table... when friends come over we all gaze at the beautiful photo's.

This is a great book. I vacation in Greece often, trying to see different parts of the country on each visit. On some of these travels, I have stayed in some of the hotels described in the book. The selection really picks up the most charming hotels in every corner of Greece. It is amazing how honestly and accurately the hotels are described here. No qualms about exposing warts and all. More importantly, the author gets across the atmosphere of each hotel quite well (and the photos are wonderful). This is great help for travellers. Besides, the book caters to different budgets, so there is something for everybody in this book. So, if you are into discovering the real Greece and if you fancy charm over conformity, this is a great reference book for your next trip.

My partner and I just returned from wonderful holidays in Greece. We rented a car to travel on the mainland and used "Around Greece" when we booked the hotels. We stayed at five different hotels (all recommended in the book) and we were amazed how accurate the descriptons in the book are. The hotels were as wonderful as we expected them to be. Small, charming, welcoming and really really special. All beautiful historical buildings, and beautifully done inside. Excellent locations. We really felt like "special guests" everywhere: the owners were truly warm and friendly. The book also warned us about minor imperfections (like extremely small bathrooms in one hotel, and slightly too firm mattresses at another) and as we were expecting this, we didn't really mind those things. Plenty to make up for it! Next time we will do some islands, and we will use this book again.
