dissapointing, 3 Feb 2004
Having waited over two months for this and having read the pre-publication releases, I was expecting a lot better. The inclusion of the complete Wales v New Zealand will be great for Welsh and New Zealand supporters. It was a wonderful game which I enjoyed and will doubtless enjoy again. What its relevance is, as a whole, in the story of last years world cup is hard to see. The full coverage of this game makes up 60% of the dvd. The producers call this "bonus footage"! There is the expected assortment of great tries, crowd scenes, team talks and victory celebration but much of it is repetitive. I don't need to see Carlos Spencer's through the leg pass three times (not replays but three sepatate showings plus replays in different sections)to know how good it was. For an England fan, less than five minutes total coverage in a two and a half hour dvd of a tournament which England won is laughable. There is no feeling of being drawn into a tournament, no build up of tension, no sense of drama. This in large part is due to the selection of Michael Pechart as the narrator. His voice does not impart any sense of occasion, the delivery uninspiring. The bonus section has the whole Wales NZ game and three attempts to sell other titles "the official review", "the final" and "Englands story". So if you want the "whole story" you just have to pay £100 and get the lot...if you forgot to turn the video on.

Highlights: but not enough!, 19 Feb 2004
By A Customer
Its not as bad as some of the reviewers make-out. Yes it does feature the full Wales v. New Zealand game and as a Welshman it is a great moment (sadly wasnt a win on the day though!) but I do believe it was one of the best games in the tournament and is a worthy addition in its entirity. It is a shame the final isnt covered in more depth, even from a highlight point of view as it was hugely enjoyable and incredibly fraught with suspense! There is definately a feeling with this DVD that it was rushed in post-production... the bonus footage (Wales v NZ aside) is just one trailer after another and you should not feel privaledged to see it... ...also, you tend to come away wishing that there were more highlights than what is on offer... There does seem to be a little too much focus on the spectators... a strange desire to show the anthems (which weren't that good in reality anyway)... but the inclusion of the opening ceremony gives a "feeling" for what turned out to be a spirited tournament, a tremendous atmosphere and a very worthy final! Is it worth it? Yes, and no: I have a vested interest in the featured match, and by and large I enjoyed the DVD, but there is that nagging sense of incompleteness...

This DVD contains the entire match between the All Blacks and Wales, The BEST match I've ever watched. If for this reason alone, this DVD is worth the the money and the 5 stars!

Not for serious rugby fans, 30 Jan 2004
This is no more than an extended promotion clip. There is as much time spent on the opening ceremony and pictures of fans, as there is on the rugby that actually took place. If you wanted to relive the best of the rugby action, this is NOT the DVD for you. A complete waste of money

Not what it says on the box, 27 Feb 2004
I bought this film expecting to get highlights of what was a marvellous tournament. What I got was the complete New Zealand vs Wales group match plus a collage of snippets, some repeated two or three times, which resembled a theatrical trailer. There is a great film waiting to be made of this excellent spectacle but we are going to have to wait until a true lover of the game turns his hand to it. I'm surprised that the IRB agreed to put it's name to this tacky little effort, the object of which is blatantly clear, it is seen as a money spinner. If you are considering buying this keep your money in your pocket and your memories untarnished. A huge disappointment.

There was more than one team there!, 10 Feb 2004
It's a review of the World Cup you fool!! Not a review of "England's" World Cup. Take your head out of your arse. And as a review of the World Cup it's an interesting, entertaining and worthwhile watch. If you're only interested in England then you can buy one of the sub-standard, pandering, ego-inflated, mass produced peices of rubbish that are also available.

Even More Pathetic Than The "Official Review", 6 Feb 2004
At least I didnt buy this one - I borrowed it from a friend. Big deal - Wales v New Zealand - great game (between two also ran teams). Why?????? I only hope that the DVD that is released in February is better than this nonsense and it finally gives fans of English Rugby the chance to own something that really documents the achievement of the team. To date - the best 2003 World Cup DVD I have seen is the 40 minute Final Highlights (that was free in the News of The World). It hasnt stopped the RFU & the DVD companies selling 10000s of these to people who want to watch our best sporting moments for yonks. DON'T BUY THIS RUBBISH IF YOU WANT IT FROM AN ENGLAND PERSPECTIVE.

Champions of the World, 25 Nov 2003
It's been over 30 years since England has been World Champions in any major sport but this year our rugby team did us proud. This DVD is a must have for any fan, and anyone else who like me was just gripped by this competition. The likes of Wilkinson, and Captain Johnson show us how it's done so you can watch us beating the Aussies on their patch. England are Champions of the World and this is a great DVD to see us do it over and over again.

We played well, there was flare demonstrated by each and every team. We won. Why would you not want to see it again, and again, and again?
