Don't let the name put you off!, 30 Nov 2005
The results so far, are superb (he says modestly)Starting with the toolbar and screen setup. It takes a few minutes to get used to (like everything ;) but it gets very quick with the colour pickers and tool selector. The left and right mouse clicks swap over the colours without re-dipping. Dogwaffle gives me real-time, realistic results (mixing oils or smudging charcoals) and is not only satisfying, but an education in art & graphics – in effect you are exploring your abilities (and perhaps your strengths) with more media available than a trolley dash in Hobbycraft! Brushes and applicators – you can daub thick oils on the same canvas as subtle water colours or charcoals – neat huh? Then there is textured paper, and real colour mixing pallets, (Red Yellow Blue) as opposed to RGB, so the realism just keeps coming. I use photoshop as well, so before I could mutter “layers?” there they are in DWPro. They aren’t as all singing as Photoshop, but enough to let you mix layers seperately and build up effects. Very neat! Thats just the paint tools! You also have super-easy animation (I made an AVI of a bouncing ball in about 5 minutes) and special effect filters that would hold up to many Photoshop ones. But the big secret is OPTIPUSTICs. This is the big gun. Select a setting and you can paint with this mad, yet genius tool, it literally paints/grows Veggie matter like grass, ferns, pines and Joshua Trees?! Beware – this part of the software is very addictive. Brilliant program, mad name, cools results.

any digital artists secret weapon, 13 Feb 2006
I overlooked this software for a long time, thinking this was just another freeware app with a silly name. (theres a free version as well) Not so this is a quality peice of kit, very easy to use, with great features, theres animation tools as well but at this price who cares, your winning on the painting tools alone. nice thing about dogwaffle its been designed by an artist for artists it approach is different but still easy, is great fun to use and can give oustanding results Its designed with imagination which is refreshing and has featurses like optipustics WOW. Dogwaffle has a charm all of its own, from its silly name to a few retro features that make you smile like lensflares and... well explore for yourself.. ...its like nothing else on the market,I really dont want other artists buying this its too good!! try the demo or free version you cant lose .......

I had a dream about waffles..., 11 Dec 2005
I had a dream about waffles... yes, the day after I went to Antwerpen in Belgium. Anyway, Project Dogwaffle is AWESOME!!! If you're used to traditional painting, PD's the one. If you're new to it, PD's the one. If you're low on budget, PD's the one. If you want to get into traditional animation, PD's the one too. I have to do an animated short for school, and my problem was money because I'm fifteen. Animation packages are so expensive(think hundreds, sometimes thousands of $) I was looking around for other animation alternatives. Project Dogwaffle kept on showing up! I took a look at it, and it said traditional animation. And the price, well, see for yourself, it's low. The animation workflow might not be completely logical, but it's so easy! Coloring's done in notime, compositing layers takes a little getting used to for traditional animators but it's easy too, and adding effects and camera moves is even easier. As for the painting, I didn't have enough watercolor paper, let alone experience in watercoloring. So, the background was a problem. PD let me experiment with it, so finally I had the perfect animation backgrounds. Every beginning artist must buy Project Dogwaffle, and every Pro should too, because of the speed at which you work with it.

Complete creative freedom Without the need of washing powder, 6 Dec 2005
By A Customer
I have always had a keen interest in anything art related and have used most mediums in the past such as pastels and charcoals and water colours / acrylics. But I usually ended up with more on my clothes / the floor than what I did on the paper. But thankfully there is a new way of creating such images. Project Dogwaffle is a truly powerful program for any artist no matter if you can draw or not and of course no mess. You can draw with lots of media including oil paints and these act in a realistic way. Also you have the ability to draw trees and grass just by moving the mouse around the screen which will impress you and all around you. Add a graphics tablet and you might as well say goodbye to your set of colouring pencils or pastels. The program is always great if you wish to let your children scribble away without the fear of stick men on your walls. The good thing about this software is it will grow with you. You can start off just scribbling away and creating fun images to creating works of art that would not look out of place in an art gallery. Throw in full animation features and multi layered painting and you can create stunning results and even mix live video to create amazing visual effects that wouldn't’t look out of place from a TV show or movie. The only limit is your imagination.
