2.0 out of 5 stars Bad buy unless you're ignorant, 30 Jun 2005
I just bought this book and i'm very disappointed. The research is patchy, the writer had little idea of how the world lives outside the borders of the US and it only offers a micro view of the insurgency. There's little else on the Nepalese Maoists - i admit - but try people like Deepak Thapa or Michael Hutt rather than this - unless money is not an object. At its best it still reads like a propaganda pamphlet from some unevolved politburo. I sympathise with the Nepali maoists - so its not a clash of ideology that makes me think this book is bad. Li Onesto should haver have written a book about the Maoists with the research she had. It was good enough prehaps, only for a magazine article.
