Although I am a huge reader of Fantasy, this is the first book I have read by RR Martin and I found it excellent. His writing talents supersede many in the fantasy genre and his ideas are both original and exciting. He builds his carachters so that we can totally empathise with them, whether it was crying when Bran was crippled or getting angry when Ned Stark was executed.
All in all, this was one of the most intriging and interesting books on the market at the moment. I started book two yesterday!
