In my opinion this is a truely awful camera. I bought it to replace my Coolpix 5600 which has given me good results and produced crisp clear images with good colour rendition for some years. I thought the L18 met the spec but was bitterly disappointed with the results. Poor image quality on the highest setting, poor colour rendition, yellowish tone and an unreliable macro focus. To ensure that I wasn't being too critical I took the same picture with my old Coolpix 5600 (which still works even though it suffered a broken LCD screen) and also with my wife's Fuji Finepix. The Finepix never did produce brilliant results but the L18 was worse still.

Full marks to Amazon for the efficiency of their returns service. I returned the camera as it didn't perform as required. I then ordered a Canon Ixus 80 because the reviews left me in no doubt that this would meet the spec. It does!

Nikon seem to have taken a backwards step with the L18. I would have expected it to have given as good, if not better, results as the 5600 but it doesn't. I guess the sensor is of a lower quality, the results certainly are.

This is truly an excellent user friendly camera. Conveniently using AA batteries which provide power for many photographs to be taken.

I have only had photographs enlarged to 10 x 8 but results are extremely good. Large 3" scren with good daylight resolution.

Without a doubt the worst camera I have ever owned. It's been back to Nikon three times now and every time it is returned with additional faults. Nikon made good 35mm cameras but don't appear to have cracked the digital market.
