    If you only want a digital camera for taking photos then this is a good buy. Anti-red eye works a treat, and the auto-smile capture is neat. However I wanted a digital camera that also took decent videos, and according to the manual the fe-340 can record VGA movies (640x480 resolution) at 30 frames per second. So I bought it from a high street store thinking I'd have the best of both worlds. First I found that the default setting for video is QVGA/15 frames per second (320x240) which is very pixellated and jerky, and no better than my 5-year-old 5 megapixel Kodak Easyshare digital camera which this was supposed to be replacing. Only after reading the "advanced" PDF manual that came on a CD with the camera did I find out how to change the movie quality to VGA. However, and this is why this camera loses 2 stars for me, you are only limited to just TEN SECONDS of recording on the VGA/30fps per setting. What is the point in that? I have bought a 2 gigabyte XD picture card and I can only get 10 seconds of decent quality video footage? In this day and age I find this absolutely absymal, Olympus. I know this is down to the camera and not user error because it states this limitation on the Olympus website. If only I'd done my research before purchasing this camera, and looked on their website. I find it downright misleading that Olympus are marketing this camera as VGA 30fps and don't warn us anywhere outside of their own website about the ridiculous 10 second recording restriction). So the FE-340 is going back to the store and I'll be buying a Sony Cybershot or Canon Ixus instead.

    this camera is very very good i took some fantastic photos of the harbor and senery from around 3 miles away. the zoom on it is also great.

    Should have added that i was talking about los cristianos harbour in tenerife

    I found the delivery estimates a little misleading. Before paying for my stuff( a camera, case and memory card) I was told it would be 3-5 working days, now that I have paid for everything it is telling me, 2 weeks. Fingers crossed I receive my order. I have been contacted regarding the order for the case, it is being sent from Germany so it should arrive early next week, but the camera and memory card remain a mistery as to when they will arrive??!!
