Its a very basic point and shoot. Can't adjust metering method, and too hard to add in exposure compensations. Menu rather awkward.
On the plus side it fits easily into your pocket and images have good colour. Shoot in complicated situations, from the shade into the sun and the results are terrible. Sharpness is also poor but looks better after tweaking. Produces wonderfully crisp portraits and snap shots but very soft any further away. I think they designed this for close ups. And macro modes quite good. Doesn't seem to be so good at focusing a long way away. Casual users will love it (stylish, fun, adequate close ups, easy to use if you don't go out of auto mode), expert photographers will hate it. People like me who are somewhere inbetween should go for canon ixus instead.


Here's a complete review of the fuji finepix Z100FD.
Overall I think its a great little snapper and whilst it won't appeal to everybody, those looking for an ultra compact point and shoot with some manual options and decent picture quality should seriously consider it.

Image quality - A little soft out of camera. Much better once tweaked in picassa. Very good colours and excellent exposure control, usually exposes images correctly.

Ease of use - If you just want to take a picture, very easy. A bit fiddly if you want to adjust manual settings, as all hidden in same menu.
Very good LCD display.

Asthetics - Wow. It looks really neat and trendy. Ultra compact and fits into a pocket with ease.

Value - Good value for money. Pay a little for the size, but its really nice to be able to have it in your pocket ready for any occasion.
5x optical zoom is useful.

Build - Feels a quality product.

Summary - Not one for professional photographers as too hard to get manual settings and ultimate image quality a little bit soft. I suspect that most others won't mind too much, particularly if you don't mind editing photos once uploaded. If you want a go anywhere camera then this is a good option.

I bought this camera to slip in my pocket. I normally use a DSLR, I was amazed at the results. Pictures are crisp and bright. Using a decent 2gb sd card on the highest resolution it can take nearly 500 pictures. All in all a brilliant product.
