Still a quality phone, 4 April 2007
Even 7 months after the release of the phone in the UK, the phone still sits near the top of the range for camera phones. Without meaning to repeat what all the other reviews say, the pictures are brilliant. There's no question about it - if you want to capture the moment, this will do the job. Even a 2MP camera does the job properly, although it would probably not satisfy the quality junkie quite as much as this phone does.
The camera lens cover is a great feature, in that you don't have to worry about the lens being damaged. Every so often, the cover can slide off in your pocket (activating the camera) and suck battery life.
One of the other few downsides is the occasionally sluggish menu. This is barely a reason not to buy this phone though, and considering the price that it can be bought at now, I would regard it as a definate purchase for anyone whose main reason for buying a phone is for the camera. It is loaded with user friendly features and is in my opinion fairly robust (although does show up the scratches after several months). Be sure to buy an M2 memory stick though (1-2GB) to be able to store more pictures and music.

loved it, 8 Mar 2007
i fell in love with this phone as soon as i opened the box, the pictures dont do it justice. the sliding lens cover is a good idea however on the first handset i bought the cover on the inside of the lens malfunctioned and did not open.
the camera is brilliant even for sports pictures and the multi shot application is good, seemingly begining to take the photos before you take the picture.
comes with software to synchronise with your PC and a handy programme that compresses songs for you so you can fit more on (not necessary if you buy the 2gb sd card).
however, after having owned the second phone for 2 months the 'take' button for the camera stopped working, stopping you from being able to use the autofocus and making the the 'push to picture' time about two seconds, not good. also, as with previous sony-ericsson phones i have owned, the joystick had begun to play up.
finally, having had it in my pocket during a thirty minute rain shower, some moisture managed to get into the the screen, rendering it useless and me left to go back to the trusty nokia 3310.
so to sum up, a fantastic phone with all the features needed to wow friends and workmates but just remember to be careful with it as it is not the most robust phone in the world. and please get it insured

Good phone, but not without its downsides, 27 May 2007
The main selling point of this phone is the 3.2 megapixel camera, which takes very good photos indeed, daytime or night. It has anti-shake technology which means that photos do not come out blurred, and there was very little graininess to be seen, even on my 19" monitor. Therefore, if the camera is important to you, you will not be disappointed.
However, the camera really does protrude out of the back, and the lens cover often gets opened accidentally in your pocket. You might like to consider as an alternative the new k810i, which has just been released. The camera is much more subtly implemented on that phone, and the phone itself is considerably thinner than the k800i.
That brings me on to another problem with the k800i - its size. It is long, thick and heavy, weighing in at 115 grams. If you put it in your pocket, you know it's there and it gradually becomes very annoying. Also, it's really not very nice to look at - if design is important to you, it's probably best to avoid this phone.
The phone comes with a music player built in, and also has an FM radio (which the latest walkman phone does not have). However, there is no memory card included so you will have to splash out £40 on a micro-SD memory card if you want to have a decent amount of music on the phone.
Overall I'd give it 7 / 10 - it's a very high spec phone with a very impressive camera, but it's let down by its size and weight. If you can afford it, go for the k810i instead.
