The Pentax S7 is a brilliant little camera, its tiny - I couldn't believe how small it was on taking it out of the box.

After using it for a week whilst on holiday, I had started to think that it was slow at taking photos, only to find that its because it was set to 'AF' 'Auto Picture' mode - AF = Auto Focus, and it needs to check whether to use the Flash or not, whether theres a face to lock the focus of the picture on to, whether theres a possibility of red eye affecting the photo, etc etc - in short don't go using the 'Auto Picture' setting if you want the camera to take a quick picture, blink and you'll miss it shots - play with the other settings and use one of those - using the AF setting to take landscape pictures of snow with a bright sun, confused it - and delayed the time to take the photo - setting it to focus on infinity with a landscape setting, took beautifully stunning photos.

The only downside that the camera has got is its lack of a view finder - This isn't a problem in normal conditions, just it is a probably if you cant see the screen on the back, due to bright sunshine.

But this doesn't take anything away from the camera as a whole - As most, if not all digital cameras these days, priced in the sub £150 market don't have a view finder - You get what you pay for, and your getting a lot of camera for £140.

Buy it, you wont be sorry.

This is a superb little camera, ideal for holiday fits in your pocket and most importantly takes fantastic photos. I would recommend you pay extra for a larger SD card, as the high quality photos take up a lot of room, although this can be alterered on the settings.
THE BAD BITS - only two I have found and Pentax seem unable to explain why.
1) the camera will tell you how many photos you can still take, BUT NOT, how many you have taken, as it does not deduct any deleted ones off the total as you go along, who knows why ?
2) you can take the time to set the time date etc. but for some reason this cannot be put onto the printed photo either front or rear, even if you change the setting. You have to wonder - why bother set the time and date dont you.
Apart fron that it is very good and I would recommend it to anyone.

bought this camera for my daughter as a gift. Always had a problem focusing. Returned to Pentax within 4 month of sale.....they wanted over £80 for repair saying it was "fluid in camera". Estimate not accepted at end of September..despite 2 e.mails and 4 phone calls camera is still not returned. Will never buy any Pentax product again as they are not interested in after sales service.
