Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Casio's Exilim Zoom EX-Z700, is the latest addition to its stylish series of Exilim digital cameras. This newest member of the Exilim family combines the high-resolution performance of an effective 7.2 megapixels with Casio's Super Bright LCD for easy viewing in broad daylight.

The EX-Z700's Super Bright LCD is both big and bright: the 2.7 inch screen with 1200cd/m2 brightness is easy to see, even on a sunny day. At 7.2 megapixels, the high-performance EX-Z700 ensures crystal-clear image output for both printing and screen, delivering extraordinary photographic detail. The long-life battery packs enough power for around 460 still images on a single charge, and the camera comes with Casio's Anti Shake DSP to reduce photo blur due to shaky hands or moving subjects. All in all, the EX-Z700 strikes an extremely attractive balance between slim, stylish looks and high-performance functionality. It also adds brand new picture-taking functions in BEST SHOT mode.

New BEST SHOT modes

Auto Framing Casio's new Auto Framing mode keeps dynamic subjects like playful, active children at the centre of the photograph, solving one of photography's most perplexing challenges. This original new function is based on Casio-developed auto-follow technology for tracking the movement of photo subjects. In Auto Framing mode, a thin, outlined frame appears on the LCD, centred on the moving subject of the photo. The area within the frame indicates the image that will be saved when the shutter is fully depressed.

Layout Shot With new Layout Shot mode, photographers can combine multiple shots of friends taken with the same scenic backdrop into a single collage, or even mix shots with different compositions to create a single artistic layout. Users simply select one of two predefined layout templates, then take two or three photographs, and save the results to create a single composite image. Layout Shot delivers a whole new way to enjoy expressive photography.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best digital camera I've used, 11 May 2007
By Mr. Russell D. Grier - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I know what you're thinking, it's a Casio, they make cheap digital watches, but don't be fooled, this camera wipes the floor with more expensive models from Canon, Nikon and Sony. I'd bought the 6MP version of this camera for my girlfriend about 6 months ago and was so impressed with it I bought the slightly revised 7.2MP version. I didn't think that a perfect camera could be improved upon but it has been. The beauty of the Exilim cameras is that when you switch them on or push the trigger there is almost no delay. This means that when you ask a friend to take a photo of you, you end up in the photo and not the ceiling or a pair of shoes. Night time photos are also very good and this is the first digital camera that I have successfully used to take photos of a fireworks display. Nine times out of ten you can just use the automatic settings on the camera but for certain shots (fireworks, macro etc) the 'Best Shot' button can be used. This allows you to select from a set of icons the scene most closely matching what you are trying to shoot. This camera comes with a docking cradle with leads for recharging, USB and AV attached which is very handy (the 6MP variant had to have the battery removed for a recharge). I should finish up by stating that the actual photos this camera produces are magnificent at all ranges and in all lighting conditions. I have taken macro photos of butterflies and you can make out the individual fibres on the wings - and all without using a tripod. There is nothing negative I can say about this camera at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars a winner as always with Casio, 25 April 2007
By T. Faiers "t_faiers" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A professional photographer friend recommended I try Casio when I bought a digital camera a few years ago. Best advice I've ever been given!

I replaced my Casio Exilim 600 pro with this, (Z700). I can hardly believe the results. Anti shake, 37 different best shot modes, very simple and quick to navigate, limitless video recording.....the list goes on!

I've been using it about a month now. The battery seems to last forever. The docking port is very easy, and is a welcome addition to the Casio features. The manual is understandable and easy to follow. The enlarged screen is tremendous. Still easy to view images even in bright sun light.

The main benefits of a Casio digital camera are the speeds, namely the startup speed, and the shutter speed. There is none of the obligatory delay that's associated with digital camera's. You can literally press the on button, and take a shot in less than a second! You don't press the button to capture a shot, then realise whatever you are shooting has moved out of the way. This really is instant. It can also take rapid shots in succession with one click!

This is a great camera. The only down side is the power button is very small and fiddly. I have occasionally missed the button when trying to switch on quickly. That is the only flaw i have found. Other than that, it's superb.

I mainly use the camera for family snaps so don't over tax the functions or picture quality. For my level of use.....I can't fault it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars By Far The Best 7.2MP Compact Camera On The Market, 18 May 2007
By A. Barratt - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This camera beats my old fuji 3mp and Vivitar 5mp hands down. I cant believe how small it is, infact its almost the same size as a modern day mobile phone and definently thinner than most. I placed twenty compact cameras on my Amazon wish list and spent almost a month researching for the best qualitys of each camera and also looking at the reviews in magazines and the internet. I finally narrowed it down to a 7mp Sony cyber shot and The Casio EX-Z700. I chose the Casio for its price and its reviews, it has a docking station for easy recharge and great battery life for plenty of photos. I have taken a photo of a pink carnation on Macro Mode and when printed on my epsom dx6050 the detail is superb. The Casio is second to none.
