I have a few pro DSLR cameras but bought this as a "work" cam. I like it the design its good and solid and the pics are fine. I have not had problems with noise some other reviewers mention however I work in Africa and there is usually (well in the daytime anyway) plenty of strong sunlight so low iso=low noise. Gripes: The lens cap keeps coming off esp. in the pocket, so I secure it with thick elastic bands. The zoom is quick but the zoom button seems to have a mind of its own. I didnt get a manual with the camera but its easy to work out and I like the touch buttons. Dont put the camera in your back pocket,if you sit on it, you will probably have to have your hip replaced. Anyway, as I said I like it and its retro look. I would most likely buy it again given the choice over again.

If I'm honest I decided on this camera not only on its features but also on its design. It's a great looking camera and is extremely well built. It's solid, has a great feel and I was really attracted by the powerful optical zoom.

However, after using the camera for a month or so and taking shots in all light conditions I was very unhappy with the quality of the pictures. The pictures weren't sharp and noise (speckling) was visible in excellent lighting conditions. I previously owned a Canon IXUS and there was truly no comaprison in the picture quality. The IXUS was far superior.

If you're not too worried about image quality and just want the powerful zoom then this camera might be acceptable. Personally I feel that picture quality is utmost and therefore I would not recommend buying this camera.

Pro's, this camera is very well built, loaded with every feature you could reasonably wish for, and the smart touch menu system works very well and is intuitive once you have learnt how to use it.
Even the design is excellent. Very appealing.
However be warned, knowing what I know now I would not recommend this camera because of one serious flaw.
NOISE!!, I mean digital noise, which for the uninformed amongst you means when you blow a picture up you start to get speckling and image degradation. I stress this is at ISO 100 the lowest and best setting, although pictures are usuable at this setting. Even worse is when you boost the ISO setting, anything over 400 is unusable in my opinion which severely restricts your shooting options. Surely the whole point of a camera first and foremost is to take a decent picture, everything else is pointless if it can't do that. This camera is fine if you do not want high quality pictures which can be enlarged, fine for web pages and small prints but thats all. Keep searching you can do a lot better!
