Electric Boogie Woogie, 3 Jul 2006
The second album from the talented if somewhat crazy minds of Jesse "The Devil" Hughes and Josh "Baby Duck" Homme comes hot on the heels of the awesome `Peace, Love, Death Metal', is a must for all rock fans.
Completing the sometimes impossible task of writing catchy tunes whilst maintaining the `fun' of a live act, this album is a true masterpiece. Produced by "baby Duck" it remains fuzzy, wired and slight imperfections that makes you feel that it was recorded in one take, make no mistake though, this is a slick, fun album that will have everyone shuffling there feet and tapping there `one good finger' along with the magic boys.
It's hard to describe the effect this band can have on you, and they might not get you on the first listen, but buy this album, and the amazing first album, and give them the time they deserve. It's not as sophisticated as a Queens of the Stone Age album, and is no way near as angry or eclectic as a Desert Session or Mondo Generator album, but this is the nearest Rekords Rekords have to a party album. From beginning to end, this album is about one thing only, rock.
Since getting this and the first album, everyone I have played it too (and this includes older relatives) have had to admit that it's the best new thing on a long time. I realize this is a biased review, but get this album and you'll see what the `magic boys' have done to me! Hail the Eagles of Death Metal, they might just save rock for us all!

Not quite as good as the first but still a great album!, 17 Jun 2006
When I ordered this album on import from the states I was extremely excited about this follow up to the debut album, Peace, Love, Death metal. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the first album from start to finish with all of the songs based on some great riffs and hooks and also some excellent drumming mprovided by Josh Homme (from Queens of the Stoneage). Death by Sexy begins in a similar manner to the first with a refreshingly rock and roll attitude however as the album continues it seemed to lose a little of it of it's variation and brlliance in simplicity. At times the album seems overprocessed losing some of the rawness that in my oppinion was key to the success of the debut. Having said that this is still a very good album and needs listening to a few times before it can be fully appreciated.
Pure rock and roll almost at it's best!

Pretty good fun, 10 Jul 2007
Firstly, don't listen to the review saying that this is 'joke music'. I think by that he means that this is in the same realm as the south park songs and the hamster dance, and no 'serious music fan' should own it. I count myself as a very serious music fan, but I really like this album. Why? Because its fun! Any band who release an album called 'death by sexy' as it's "a sound so sexy it could probably kill you" are very obviously not taking themselves seriously, and so maybe you shouldn't either. However, it's a great fun album, with so many catchy songs, and i'd reccomend it to pretty much anyone
I'd say this would be a great party album, and is just good when you want a bit of happy dumb fun rock 'n' roll. And whats wrong with that? it won't change your world, it won't challenge you much, but unless you are very very boring, it'll make you smile and make you want to dance yo' ass off. As they said: 'You know we move, yes we move, cuz we like our dancing!'
