When the 3 brothers who were the vocal group added the 3 younger members of the family (who were an intrumental group previously), they might have hoped, but could hardly have anticipated the enormous success they would enjoy.

The younger guys became the producers and arrangers of the Isleys sound which harnessed the Soul of the original group and added more Funk and Rock influences - 3 + 3 is the result. This was recorded in the same studios at the same time as Stevie Wonder was recording "Talking Book" - there must have been something in the air !!!!

"That Lady" is here in all its 5+ minutes glory, and other originals like "You Walk Your Way" are, for me, the stand outs. But when you add in the covers - each given a whole new angle - you have a classic album, which has undoubtedly influenced many who followed.

Here is a slice of 70's Soul, their best album, and one which sound as good today as it did when I unwrapped the vinyl all those years ago !!!!!

What a great classic this is.
Pure 1970s soul/funk played and sung beautifully on a medley of lovely ballads. This is the first LP produced with the old and young members of the Isley brothers brought together, and they produced a fresh, rich sound that still sounds good today.
The most obvious new aspect of the band was Ernie Islay's guitar - his solo on That Lady being one of my favourite all time best, and not far behind is his solo on Summer Breeze. Chris Jasper's keyboards brought in the richness, and his moog on Highways of My Life is just so beautiful. As for the singing - peerless.
Every song is great.
I've never seen any concert footage from this time - if anyone has any, please put it on YouTube - the costumes on the cover suggest a visual treat.
