Too bad the Boys decided to release this next song from 'Release' first in Germany. But, thanks to import, it is also possible for people worldwide to get these items. And this one deffinetely is worth it! Allthough you have to listen very carefully before you notice any difference in the 7" of London and the album track, the song still stands as a rock. A very good song (one of the best of the album) which alone is worth getting if you're not familiar with the album. But, even when you own the album, the classical reprise is so beautiful. It really gives you goose bumps when you listen to it. And, the second track, Positive Role Model is finally available for the fans. First appeared officially on the 'Closer To Heaven' soundtrack, it is now released performed by the Boys themselves. A very up-tempo song with a very familiar Barry Manilow Sound. 3 tracks on this single, and all 3 are really, really good. It will probably never be a high-chart single, you really miss something when you do not have this record.

who else but the pet shop boys would write a song about an asylum seeker? with the line 'we were in london, lets do it- lets break the law' Coupled with the high NRG disco track 'Positive role Model' with its barry White sample this is an unmissable combination of pure pop from the most English pop band.

The Berlin radio mix of London is actually a slight improvement on the album mix: it sounds a fraction slower and mutes some of the more spacey effects. A lovely ballad. The new track, Positive Role Model, is a great return to club form for the Boys, although it quite obviously samples Barry White and doesn't have a strong enough melody to stand on its own - and what's with this newfound tendency to sample, anyway? Despite their best intentions it does sound like Pet Shop Boys are winding down. The piano mix of London only highlights Neil Tennant's vocal limitations, with the voice mixed right upfront sounding brassy and lacking nuance. At the import price this remains one for fans.
