Product Description

From Amazon.com

Like fellow indie rockers Pavement, Archers of Loaf excel in making uneasy-listening pop, with sharp, angular guitars jutting this way and that, barring the listener from turning any corner without a little work. Vocalist/guitarist Eric Bachmann is as committed a rock singer as you'll find, impressively following every note with vocal cords stretched as far as they'll go. The two guitars caterwaul like trapped animals; the rhythm section churns out a solid, scary backbeat, gluing the whole mess together into one surprisingly powerful whole. The raging, relentless "Last Word" stands as a shining example of college rock circa 1993. --Lorry Fleming

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Greatness!, 9 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Icky Mettle (Audio CD)
I though that this CD had a strange name. This is what made me buy it. Upon hearing it I thought "OH MY GOD! WHY HAVENT I HEARD OF THE ARCHERS OF LOAF BEFORE! " The tracks within are an ecclectic mix of postmodernistic readings on life today and a traditioalist view of objects that are transposed onto our culture of modern day society. Tracks like "HATE PASTE" stirred my inner soul and brought to life my imagination. I loved it from the first melancoly note to the last dying scream of bloodcurdling hate! It aroused me!

Jolly Good Show!

5.0 out of 5 stars still great, 21 Jan 2006

This review is from: Icky Mettle (Audio CD)
i bought this album when it came out over 10 years ago and it still sounds fantastic, its a breath of fresh air to hear an album that sound so good once the adrenalin of adolescence wears off, like so many have'nt. get this album if you like pavement and angular music or just get it if you like music you wont regret it.. or double your money back!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars something's wrong......., 11 Jul 2007
This review is from: Icky Mettle (Audio CD)
Worth buying purely for Toast - if you dont like this track you dont like music. But leaving the stand out track aside the album as a whole is fantastic - a cross between grunge and heavy metal with the listener winning out.
