Product Description

Product Description

This is the most up-to-date guide to the National Trail. The route is described in both directions, giving the walker a choice of start and end locations This is the third edition of this guide to the 102 mile route (recently designated a National Trail) between Chipping Campden and Bath. The route meanders through the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of the best-loved regions of lowland Britain. The path follows the Cotwolds down their western edge with dramatic and far-reaching views across the Severn Vale towards the Welsh hills. Beginning in handsome Chipping Campden, not only does the route explore the sheep-grazed escarpment, it plunges down the scarp slope on numerous occasions to visit the honey-coloured villages and old market towns for which the district is justly famed, and ends in the World Heritage City of Bath. This new edition takes account of improvements made to the route since its launch as a National Trail, and is the perfect companion to a memorable long walk.

2.0 out of 5 stars I have walked the way, 30 Aug 2009
Having purchased this book in order to walk the way we were somewhat disappointed.

The maps which are simply 'cut and paste' from OS maps are woefully inadequate being small scale, often not quite agreeing with the description in the text, and confusing the Cotswold way and the Monarchs Way, and cutting names which are essential (tley for Wortley). The line rather than helping often obscures useful detail.

On the plus side the additional touristy information is great but if your first priority is finding your way look elsewhere for a guide.
