5.0 out of 5 stars Pedalling to Hawaii, 8 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This book is a fantastic and compelling read. I just could not put it down. This is unusual for me as I am the type to start a book and not make it to the end. To start with from the very first page it is evident this book is beautifully written. In essence Stevie Smith decides to do something fantastic one day while standing in his Parisian office looking over the city. The dream concieved comes to fruition some time later after much preparation. Stevie and his best mate Jason from Uni are on their way to travel around the world using human power alone. This is a real story of 2 men who take life by the scruff of the neck and turn it on its head. This is a story of friendship, fear, anger, love, determination, endurance, and some times hatred, the list goes on.... Sometimes I laughed and at other times I cried.
This book is a highly enjoyable read and will appeal to everyone. There are elements in this book that we can all identify with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy diamond, 27 Sep 2005
If it is crazy to follow your dreams, then Stevie Smith is definitely certifiable. But for those who have that gut feeling that to live the greatest adventure story you can imagine is more important right now than comfort and security, you will find this uninhibited, hilarious, and sometimes terrifying account of the first attempt to travel round the world entirely by human-power absolutely irresistible. This is thrilling, addictive, heartfelt writing from beginning to end. I loved it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read, 8 Oct 2007
At first I couldn't put this book down as it is very inspiring and made me keep wanting to read to know what was going to happen next. However towards the middle of the book I got a little bored but finished the book and its well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Armchair Adventurer ...
There's something about this book that totally absorbed me. Maybe it's the totally laid-back, rather chaotic, last-minute style that drew me in as a direct contrast to so many... Read more
