From the Author
Teachers love this book!
I know, because I was teaching kindergarten when I wrote it. My students worked for weeks on a unit about Native Americans, and thought of many of the projects in the book. That summer I spent months researching everything I could about Native American culture, then created projects for kids that make the history and culture come alive. I enjoyed myself at powwows and dances all over the Southwest and in Idaho. One thing I love is frybread, and I found a quick way that kids can make it. Want to make clever silver and turquoise jewelry, in the preschool classroom? Think macaroni and foil, and a tissue tube! More Than Moccassins is full of supersimple ways that kids can learn and have fun at the same time. Oh, the book was a finalist for the Western Writers of America Golden Spur Award, and picked Buyer's Choice by the Museum Store Association.
