5.0 out of 5 stars More than TQM, 3 Feb 2004
By A Customer
A very readable book full of real-life examples. Oakland provides a practical approach to business improvement that contains a lot more business sense that you might expect from a book titled 'Total Quality Management'. You won't find a single approach such as Six Sigma pushed at you here. The book gives a balanced view of imrovement under the core principles of Planning; People; Process & Performance. This book could also be categorised in the 'Deploy your Strategy' section.

4.0 out of 5 stars Usefull book for understanding TQM, 15 Aug 2001
By A Customer
The book gives much theory about quality, TQM, processes. There are many improvement models described. Not too helpful for practical use in process improvement, but great to understand quality topics.

4.0 out of 5 stars COULD DO BETTER!, 24 Mar 2008

(REAL NAME)
John Oakland is a first class industrialist-turned-academic. His book is an excellent introduction to TQM and I have used it in teaching a Masters class in Q.M. Knowing John, however, I am sure that he'll be berating the proofreader: twice the great man Deming was referred to as "Denning"!
