Product Description

Product Description

Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure" and is a traditional Japanese massage technique which can rebalance the body and ease both mental and physical tension by applying pressure to the body's energy channels, or meridians. Covering the spiritual as well as the practical, this guide includes the concept of Ki or Chi energy, the essential building blocks of Shiatsu in practice, how different parts of the body can be used to transmit energy, and how Shiatsu complements traditional Chinese medicine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for all students of shiatsu, 29 Dec 1999

excellent book that is incredibly useful for first timers and seasoned practitioners. This is one of those rare books that seems to have more in it each time you read it and as you get further with your studies then the book seems to be even more useful that it did at the start of the course.

5.0 out of 5 stars a logical and systematic textbook., 23 May 2002

Shiatsu-The Complete Guide is well laid out and informative, with particularly clear line drawn illustrations to elucidate technique. The section on Oriental Medicine theory is concise, whilst maintaining an interesting poetic nuance. Overall, this book is a very interesting read as well as a source reference. The appendix on pont function is the best of type I have seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent all round book , 30 Dec 2008
By AikiGirl (Hampshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This book was used during my shiatsu course, once we had covered some of the basics. It's one I refer to time & time again. I would definitely recommend it. However, I do think the layout could be improved as it's very 'wordy' & maybe the use of different columns or boxes would have helped to highlight important points.
