4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, yet fairly simple ..., 18 Feb 2003
By Bernd B. (Irland) - See all my reviews
The buildings in this book are (more or less) based on the buildings in Mystic Seaport, an open-air museum of finest quality. They are, however, simplified and sometimes made smaller than the originals (not in scale, but in overall building size!).

But do not expect a replica of Mystic Seaport - there are differences!

While the quality of printing etc. is very good, some parts are a bit flimsy after cutting and assembling - for instance the posts holding up some lean-tos tend to warp (shown even on the books' cover ... have they no quality control?). I would advise strengthening those with metal pins or similar or scratchbuilding from balsa wood. But this is a common thing in paper models, so ...

Only niggle: The models seem to be too delicate for younger children, they are really for people with some modelling experience. Yet for those they may not be detailed enough ...
