It is a highly valuable and informative book for ordinary folk, therapists, qigong practitioners, healers, medical and health care professionals to read and consult.

It is a fascinating book engagingly written by Paul Perry, in which Dr. Hong Liu, trained in Western and Chinese medicine, generously shares with you his unusual and fascinating experiences and his long hard voyage (years of qigong training with many train journeys to visit the Taoist master/healer living 600 miles away in a cave high on a mountain) in pursuit of advanced ancient healing art that had amazed both him and the medical experts.

Embedded in the stories are gems of Eastern wisdom and expert knowledge from him and his master on health and diseases, waiting for a keen reader to discover.

Dr. Liu kindly presents the qigong exercises that readers can learn and practise. Do not deceive by the simplicity of these qigong exercises that are treasured by the qigong experts.

Qigong exercises, Chinese herbal remedies and healing meals have also been prescribed kindly by Dr. Liu to help people who suffers from cancers, allergies, hypertension, stroke, arthritis, depression and stress.

You certainly will not be disappointed by the book of a top physician and qigong master. After all how many doctors in the world could diagnosis physical problems by just looking at a patient and treat diseases and ailments with amazing results?

After reading this book you will have one of two reactions. You will either disregard what you have just read and go back to your little bubble to continue your understanding of how the world and your own body really work. Or you will be momentarily blinded by the revalation that everything you have been led to believe by your parents, friends, and relatives is fundamentally wrong. I say temporarily blinded because this book not only explains what goes wrong, why it goes wrong, and how to reverse the damage. It actually gives you (all age groups) the ammunition to do it...and they work.

This book may be said to be written in an easy to read autobiographical style and his main aim may be said to be to propose a cooperation between allopathic medicine and Qi Gong medicine. The author, Master Hong Liu, does this by means of an engaging narrative describing the way he came to know and learn Qi Gong therapy after he was already a Doctor in allopathic medicine in a military hospital of Sanghai.

Think there is a section introducing the Eight Brocade Exercises, with valuable and detailed descriptions and ilustrations of them, it might not be wise to relay just in this book to start learning them. So this book may not be considered a textbook to start learning Qi Gong, it is rather an introduction to a way of practicing medicine with case examples of it.

There is a section to introduce how to deal by means of exercises and herbal remedies some case examples, which include several diseases: AIDS, Allergies, Arthitris, Prostate Cancer, Headaches, Hypertension, Stress and Depression, Stroke and Weight Loss. Each of them is introduced with a story about an actual case treated by Master Hong Liu. Think one may try to practice the exercises which are proposed, it wan't be so easy to find the herbal remedies because they are from the chinese fitotherapy. You may not expect to learn how to heal these diseases just by reading this book.

Conclusion: Hong Liu's book may be read as if it were a novel of how Allopathic medicine and Qi Gong medicine meet in the life of Master Hong Liu. This book may be neither considered a textbook, nor a treaty on medicine, although some exercises and some chinese fitotherapy recipes are described.
