Product Description
Album Description
'Sure Thing' is a wonderful collection of classic songs, arranged by the arranger/composer John Altman and played by some of the UK's finest musicians including leading vocalist Joan Viskant.

John Altman has long been recognized as one of the world's leading composers/arrangers for film and television. His credits include 'Little Voice', 'RKO 281', 'Hear My Song' and the incidental music for 'Titanic'. As a musician he has worked with amongst many others, Eric Clapton, Sting, Phil Collins and Van Morrison.

Vocalist Joan Viskant was born in Chicago and lived in Paris before settling in London. She has recently received rave reviews for her debut album 'I Hear Music', released on the 33 Jazz label and was described by Woolf Phillips, Frank Sinatra's MD, as "the best female singer I have heard in 30 years".

This album was born of their love of the great songs written in the golden age of American popular music.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful contemporary twist to standard arrangements, 19 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Joan's vocals glide around John Altman's brilliant arrangements of favourite standards, as if they had been written today. Eat your heart out Robbie Williams! In particular Dancing On The Ceiling is entrancing and oh so clever. And this from the man who's worked with Bjork and Goldie!
