This is a rudely funny, gory in parts, teen "zom-com" from America. It is rather good fun and has some fantastic gags along the way. It is not a horror story. It is a teen comedy. While it is a bit uneven, it is funny.

------spoilers-------

The tone is set right from the first scene, which involves an overly curious janitor in a lab, where "DoD" is lying on a bed. Thinking he's killed the man (the janitor is not too smart) the janitor tries to revive him. The scenes with him getting thrown around the lab., seen silently through the window as the scientist wrestles with an obstinate vending machine outside in the corridor, is a good start. That is how the zombie outbreak begins.

Three scouts, two of whom want to leave because they're, well, too old, set up camp in the woods to honour one of them, "Augie", being awarded his "condor badge". The other two (Ben and Carter) plan to sneak away and attend the "super secret" senior year party instead. On returning to town they discover that zombies have taken over and the army plan to bomb the town in two hours. The gallant scouts, along with the help of a "cocktail waitress" from an "interestingly named" bar, then set about finding the location of the party and rescuing the people there, amongst them Carter's sister, who Ben has a secret crush on.

In addition to the usual crude teen-virgin sex jokes, there are lots of nice touches amongst the bumbling mayhem; the zombie cat, the very resilient "Scout leader Rogers", with a Dolly Parton fixation, a zombie wearing a "YOLO" T-shirt and a "Britney Spears" sing-a-long, just to name a few. There are some snappy one-liners and the gore is nicely explosive, though not overdone.

Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse was yet another zombie comedy flick to be released in an overcrowded genre of zombie flicks. So does it offer anything new to the genre? well not exactly. Scouts Guide is the more arbitrary zombie flick about a ragtag group of survivors lucking their way through the apocalypse. There are a few scenes that solidify the silly atmosphere of the film. At no point does this movie try to take itself seriously and that's important to know going into it. Prepare to have some laughs as well as roll your eyes with a lackluster groan.

What's new that Scouts Guide introduces to the already vast world of zombie flicks is simply that our main protagonists are boy-scouts, who have a lot of handy knowledge of most things survival. The opening scene of a Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse represents what's both right & wrong with the film from an overall prospective. In it, we see a janitor lip syncing to a pop song. It's a genuinely funny moment that opens up things with energy & momentum. From there, the janitor dances up against a glass window, exposing his nipples, making sexual faces while someone walks past the window oblivious to what's happening. All of this comes across as forced, as though the people behind this are trying to show us how funny they can be. From there, we get to a horror like scenario involving the janitor having a run-in with a zombie. Ominous music plays. There's gore. Even though the presentation of zombie and the look of this scene from the color palates, to the sets & set decoration are on the serious side, they never fully commit to taking the scene seriously. Comical elements are present, but the comedy & horror co-exist uneasily with one another. As a result, the right note is never found.

I found this film to be funny. It is definitely not the best film ever made, and the humour is juvenile and 'grossout' but I laughed pretty consistently throughout.
The special effects were pretty decent considering the budget, and the actors were engaging and set a pretty good level overall. I was actually impressed by Sarah Dumont as she was a better performer than I expected.
Overall if you go in expecting a stupid childish film that will make you laugh a few times then I think you will have a pretty good time

Simply this is s great film. Excellent acting and great fx. It does what it says on the tin and delivers comic zombie action. You would have to be one of the worlds humourless drones to not get something from this movie. I loved it 🙀

This is first and foremost a comedy. But still has scares and gory moments. I did not expect much going in, and it got pretty bad reviews - but I'm glad I took a chance, this is a well made film and much better than you think it's going to be.
I'm laughing now just thinking about it. Take a chance, and watch this film!

When the zombie apocalypse happens, the police and military are of no use. Three scouts team up with a savvy stripper (Sarah Dumont) to save the secret senior party and Ben's (Tye Sheridan) crush (Halston Sage).

This was a fun nonsense zombie film. The viral outbreak also effect animals such as deer and kittens. The scene of them getting ready to do battle against the zombies happened way too late into the film. Could have used more Scorpions.

Guide: F-word, topless zombie.
