Product Description

It's supposed to be a paradise holiday; a group of five young friends travel to Panama for the vacation of a lifetime. While partying, they meet Carmen, a beautiful native, with stories about a stunning waterfall deep in the jungle. Other locals caution them against the journey, warning them that those who have set out in search of the waterfall have mysteriously disappeared. Ignoring the warnings the group set off to find the hidden oasis.

What begins as a fun outing quickly turns terrifying when their guide mysteriously vanishes. As night closes in, the friends realise that they're being stalked by a ravenous creature. As they try to escape, it becomes clear that the legend of the Chupacabra has some truth to it after all...

'Prey' is about a group of teenage explorers who go on holiday, but they later wonder into some strange woods and waterfall location which is believed to be haunted by evil demon monsters and guess what? The monsters are real and they soon start being chased and killed by them . The film starts off very slow and pointless by just showing the bunch of teenagers talk about rubbish and acting daft. But once the first 30 minutes have passed, the film starts to pick up and become a little more interesting. But the main downfall is that it is very predictable and full of your usual horror film properties including the characters always shouting, making silly decisions, getting lost and of course most of this film was set in the dark making it hard to see anything. On the plus side, the CGI used to create the demon monsters was very impressive and they did look very realistic and scary and there were a few decent tense moments (one in particular when one of the characters gets lost underground). But overall, this film is too predictable and only made better by the CGI monsters.

This was previously released as ‘Indigenous’ in 1014 so a tad bit early for a recycle. The plot is that five friends are travelling the World and are currently passing through Panama and hear of a fabled water fall in the dense jungle of The Darién Gap. They also hear of the creature of legend – the Chupacabra – a sort of half man half monster nasty piece of work.

Well despite the warnings they just have to hike off for a bit of a dip in the jungle waters. What follows is a pretty good and tense tale. However there are just soo many ‘doing the stoopid thing moments’ that it becomes a bit annoying. The ending is also not going to be everyone’s ideal but we are used to that.

All in all a film with a lot going for it and a lot working in the other direction too. The acting started a bit wobbly but gets really good and the make up department did themselves proud too, but a re release already? That is why I have rated this as I have done.

creature effects good, standard story that could have been much better if the main characters had at least been likeable or better defined or something that made you interested in them!

As I was watching this I realised I have actually seen it before a while back, it was previously known as Indigenous Indigenous (2014) (Region 2). The cover led me to expect something similar to The Descent [DVD] [2005]
A group of Americans on holiday in Panama are tempted by tales of the remote Darien Gap where there is a famous waterfall with waters that are supposedly great for your health, they are warned off going as there have been the odd disappearances but hard partying tourists being what they are not going to let a little thing like that get in their way.
It has elements of the found footage genre but is not your usual FF nonsense, wisely it refrains from most of the now almost obligatory FF cliches although there are still lots of the usual creature on the prowl moments you may expect. The first half hour is pretty tedious but when they find the waterfall it soon picks up its feet and runs at a decent pace.
Although the acting is nothing special there is a big plus point in that the creature(s) - possibly chupacabras are pretty effective as are most of the special effects and it passes a reasonable enough 80 minutes or so but the actual ending itself is a bit of a let down.
There are no extras at all.
