There isn't much love for Firewalker around the web. IMDB have this rated at a score of 4.9 and movie snob Leonard Maltin declared Firewalker as a BOMB. I think some reviewers must be Chuck-ist. Firewalker is a highly entertaining adventure movie, and it works because its lead stars play along tongue in cheek. You'll be reminded of Kurt Russell's character in Big Trouble in Little China, the hero that in reality is far from it, that's another film that is grossly underrated by the mass media.

Chuck Norris impresses here too, I have always said there is more than one dimesion to the man and this film only underlines that. Louis Gossett JR plays Chucks best friend and side kick as the pair along with blonde Melody Anderson go in search of hidden treasure.

There are plenty of comedy moments along the way, some rather funny. But what excites most is that this film moves along very quickly with an assured directness. Some may call it a cheap mans Indiana Jones, but it ended up being much better than Indy 4. Anyhow it is what it is, and the acting is far better than you would expect. This is a very enjoyable movie that Chuck fans, yay or nay will still enjoy.

This is just a small review about the Blu-ray but to tell you the truth there is not much I can say.

Am a bit disappointed with this release because on the back of the cover it says DTS which sadly its not.

The sounds is in 2.0 PCM which does sound good but would prefer DTS.

The Blu-ray picture quality is ok but you do get a lot of grain, it gets a 3/5.

Their are no bonus features or subtitles, the ratio is in 16:9.

All in all a average release from 101 Films

Two treasure hunting buddies are employed by a blonde who feels she has some sort of magical connection with some Aztec/Mayan gold, hidden south of the border. So off they go on a series of adventures getting into all manner of scrapes and fun, as they hunt the hidden treasure.
Locating the gold however may not be that easy though, as they are being followed by the evil Indian shaman El Coyote, who will stop at nothing, in order to stop them getting to the gold. Having his own unscrupulous reasons for finding it first...

I hadn't seen this one since I saw it on VHS around about 1990. I didn't like it much then and I don't think it's particularly good now, the only improvement this time round being that my expectations of it were suitably low!
Lou Gossett Jnr probably steals the show, but to be fair it's hardly against any great odds that he achieves this. With Chuck only standing out once or twice, mostly during action set pieces, whilst in the rest of the film, his comedy timing is simply woeful, and his delivery of the (surely purposefully so) bad cornball dialogue, lacking at nearly every turn. Quite what J. Lee Thompson was thinking when he helmed this, God only knows, as he's usually a fairly reliable journeyman director. And maybe it looked hilarious on paper, or when viewing the rushes, who knows... but boy does it seem lame when seen in it's entirety now.
Melody Anderson isn't bad but let's face it, she's hardly Kathleen Turner or Karen Allen, and a lot of the sets have clearly been done on the cheap.

This may be the only film in the history of mainstream Hollywood films that has only ever received totally negative reviews. I think that a lot of LA/NY based film critics have got it in for Chuck Norris. I reckon he's OK. In fact, I rather liked it. It is so absurd it is really funny. This was Chuck Norris' first comedy role. The movie is famous for a fight scene in which Norris single-handedly defeats almost every male customer in a Mexican bar and destroys the bar in the process. Chuck Norris' character also struggles to use a firearm - in one scene, he kills someone by pure luck after his misdirected bullet bounces off the walls before hitting its target. 4 chucklesome stars.

This movie provided me with more entertainment value than any other in history! Oscar winner (reg. trademark) Lou Gosset Jr should have won another, this time for comedy. Keep an eye on the ropes that are holding there arms and legs in the scene at the beginning - a bit of a blooper there, but I am willing to overlook these errors because this movie introduced so many cliches - watch for the drunk guy who is always outside the window that Chuck Norris has thrown someone out of. Hilarious!
